It's actually the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar. December 21st, 2012, or the Solstice, marks the end of the thirteenth b'ak'tun on the calendar. Apparently the idea that this date would be the apocalypse was suggested by Michael D. Coe in 1966, but some other scholars think it would just be a cause for celebration, or a 'change in human consciousness'.

I think I need to hit the library.

	Well, shit, I was going to say let's go free my baby from the place where they're filming us but it's about two days drive time and I sure as hell ain't flying there.
