It's actually the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar. December 21st, 2012, or the Solstice, marks the end of the thirteenth b'ak'tun on the calendar. Apparently the idea that this date would be the apocalypse was suggested by Michael D. Coe in 1966, but some other scholars think it would just be a cause for celebration, or a 'change in human consciousness'.

I think I need to hit the library.

	Doubtful, it's just another prediction. This one has a lot of attention because there was a movie made about it called '2012.' The last big 'End of The World' a lot of people sold their homes, quit their jobs, gave up all of their possessions, etc. And then nothing happened. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)
