I'm getting that 'need to build things' itch again, so if anyone has projects they want to do, I'm happy to help.

[Rey]

Hey. Um. I was thinking. Maybe...maybe [...] do you think engineering would be a good idea? I mean, I guess I could start my own contracting business or like go to school for that. Trades pay pretty well apparently. I dunno. It might be stupid.

Not really? Mostly I'm just trying to get better at planning things and getting to a final result. Like Festus and the Argo II, I already built, so I didn't have to think about it. But I'm also good at busywork when it comes to general building.

I can give you a mix then. Some 'come up with a device to solve X problem' and then old plans that need some prototypes and maybe improvements. To fill in any gaps on your help requests.

Thanks. I'd appreciate it.

No problem. Any time you need something extra, just poke your head in. There'll always be something to toss your way.

Depending on your timing, there might even be some pizza slices to go with the projects.

I do like pizza.

Question. I asked Rey about it, but [...] maybe I should have more opinions. Do you [...] Would going back to school be a bad idea? Like should I not? I guess I don't need it. Or whatever. It's just [...] I've been considering it. Sort of. I guess I haven't thought about it, but [...] Maybe engineering? If that's not a stupid idea. It's fine if it is. I know I'm shit at reading anything not Ancient Greek and I don't know if colleges would be weird about it. Also we're eventually probably going to end up trapped on a cruise and it's going to ruin everything. Maybe it's not a good idea.

Getting lots of opinions on this sort of thing is a good idea actually. Only you will know what's best, but getting other viewpoints will help that.

Before I ended up in all these other worlds, I'd actually been planning to go to MIT. Things were different there though. My dad was back and running the company. My identity as Iron Man had been made public but the main big evil was defeated. Things were more open and relaxed to just go and learn more. Expand my mind. Especially considering the other genius level people around.

The past two worlds though, well, getting forced back into school when I was almost done with it didn't help my attitude, plus straying too far from New York City even if it was just up to Boston felt too risky. Starting up my company to help the world as best I could and also give a space for younger tech types felt more important.

So, the first question would be, what are you thinking of getting out of it?

I mean I know I'm a Hephaestus kid and I know I've gone through the whole normal kid school experience here. I'm not sure if it's necessary to do it, but I mean, even Annabeth went to school for something she'd already professionally done and getting my memories? I need something normal?

It's just [...] maybe I'll find out I don't want to keep going once I get there, but I want the chance to find out because who knows if I might never get the chance back home. I want to be able to figure things out without my abilities because who knows what will happen? We've lost powers before and I'm great at building because I'm my dad's kid. I'm not that amazing without powers. At least I can't figure out why things aren't working without my hands working properly. I think it might be good to have skill without abilities.

Honestly, it's sounding like a good idea, Leo, even if I'd say you're still amazing without powers. You still need a good brain to come up with what to do with all that input the powers give you.

You could always start with the colleges in Tumbleweed. See if you like the feel of it, but I don't know how the courses would be in regards to attention keeping. There's always Rice or Texas A&M if you want to do something local but more in the system.

I mean, I think my brain's pretty good and math is the easiest thing to me, but I don't think it will hurt.

Yeah. That seems reasonable. Calypso and I were going to go to school and then do something of our own. At least we talked about it. But we never got to. There. I guess we might? I don't know.

The uncertainty of home universes can be a bitch, yeah? Here I am talking about the differences in this universe and back home and for all I know I decided to take a five year world tour back home and just forget about colleges or businesses.

If you want to do it here, go for it. If you need help with applications or recommendations, I can lend a hand. I've had to do enough paperwork with the interns. And if you want to know how the college scene here is, I could talk to the local interns or set up a lunch so you could chat with them.

Yeah. One of my best friends is dead. Recently. Back home. But he doesn't get a Death Cure. He just gets to be dead. I don't know what's going to happen or if I'll make it to the age where I can be in college. I mean, I'm sort of surprised I made it now.

Yeah. That might help. I mean, I know Rey can figure it out, but maybe you could walk us through it. I'd like to talk to the people who've gone to the college here.

That sucks for all that does. But it does put more points into the whole 'good idea' category.

Yeah, I could walk you two through it if you need it. And if you two end up wanting to do it on your own, just tell me to get loss. Considering I get wanting that sort of independence too.

I'll talk to the interns. They won't have the full perspective considering they have a normal life here.... or well maybe that's exactly the perspective you want... Preference on lunch options?

I don't mind the help. I don't think Rey minds either. She's friends with the other Tony. So she doesn't seem bothered by it.

I think I can text you a couple places. They're not that fancy, but they have good Tex-Mex food. But if anyone's not for that, I can find something most places.

Tex-Mex will be fine and really not that fancy is better anyways. Fancy just gets everyone nervous.

Yeah. I'm a demigod. Fancy's just kind of like what happens when you get stuck with your godly parents somehow.
