I should do a unit on Dadaism this year. People give so much attention to Cubism and none to this beautiful weirdness. Of course Cubism is definitely significant, but I think there's been something of a resurgence of the principles of Dadaism lately that's really interesting.

Case in point.

In the meantime... Madeira, Portugal or Koh Tao, Thailand?

I'd guess a mixture of things myself. I like what you said, about it being a symptom of hearing culture, but I also feel like we've been trained to only see one thing and anything else is wrong. It reminds me somewhat of being in high school English and asked to write an interpretation on a poem, what the author is trying to say. Then, a teacher would mark you wrong if it wasn't the one they were looking for. People are going to see something different in art, literature, but if they're taught there's only one right interpretation, then they're going to stop looking and wait for someone to tell them what it is.

Which is just a theory on my part. Dadaism is not one of my stronger areas.

No, I'm more into Impressionism and the Fauvists' use of colour, really, but I dabble in a lot of styles and mediums.

It's funny, I wouldn't wish my childhood on anyone, but it definitely taught me a lot about communication and meaning and nuance. Very, very useful if you're going to be any kind of spy and have to learn how to sell a consistent lie in every movement.

	I understand that completely. There's too many to commit to just one. Kind of like you're glad you get those lessons but going back, doing it over? Hell no, just keep moving forward?
