That's a great suggestion, and in fact, I still have the list of shelters that my brother and I held a toy drive for back during the holidays, if anyone is interested in getting in touch with them to volunteer. I regularly donate items myself, but it never hurts for them to have more.

Except menstrual cups. Don't donate those.

One of the women who runs a local shelter told me that when they were first coming out with them, there was a big push for people to donate them to homeless and women's shelters because they're more convenient than sanitary napkins and tampons, which is actually pretty good. The only problem is that they have to be sanitized and cleaned regularly, and most of the people who come through the shelters aren't able to do that, so it can result in UTIs and other infections, making them more dangerous.

I saw above that you mentioned that you've been where these people are, so I know I don't have to tell you this, but I'll say it for anyone else reading - even giving an hour or two a week can make all the difference to someone on the streets.

If you want, I'll take you by one of the shelters when I go. I usually go in the evenings or the weekends.
