I'm guessing the Tolkien books are in the library, although there may not be enough copies for everyone. I have digital copies on my computer - the trilogy and also The Hobbit - if anyone would like to read them on their tablet. Just let me know.

I was also thinking we should screen the movies, if we have them, even though there might be inaccuracies (if we're visiting the book world). Because it might be hard for new readers to get through 3-4 books in the two days before we hit the port.

I wore out multiple copies. In my childhood, most of my traveling was in books.

I too have found it overall good to be here. But it is quite new to me. So I am glad to have experienced companions.

I did a bit of both. Traveling by car, and traveling by book. I liked traveling by books better.

Let me know if you need anything. Having read the books, I suspect you'll do just as well in Middle Earth as I could. I did learn a little Elvish when I was younger, haven't practiced it in a while though.

Cars can be good, but there is something for hiking through the countryside disturbing nothing, when it comes to physical travel. Books have never lost their potency though.

Ways of quicker travel are what many of us will want or need, I imagine. I am happy to see any, even the smallest portion, of Middle Earth. But I admit, there are some parts of it I greatly desire to see, if it is possible. That's a leg up you will have on me. Languages have never been my strength.

I do like hiking, but it's more of a novelty for me. I don't usually have the time for it, have to go from hunt to hunt.

We've got a fair number of magical teleporters and apparators, hopefully they'll be willing to help us out. I wouldn't mind doing some walking or horseback riding to get around too, though. I don't know that I'll run into any elves, but it might come in handy.

Most of my 'hunting' has been for things or magics not found in populous places. So, no matter how far planes, cars, helicopters will take you, it comes back down to your legs in the end. It's quite something to be in a place modern transportation cannot reach.

They will be quite popular and possibly busy if so. I don't know how I would compensate them, but I'd certainly be willing to. Yes, I'm not opposed to old fashioned transport. Middle Earth is just too large for that to suffice. A majority of its locations are inland, too far from the sea to reach those ways. It is nice when those things you learned for love of them turn out useful.

Oh, really? I hunt monsters, which usually happens in regular cities, but it does sometimes involve finding hidden things and magic things. [...] In a way, I think this might be the modern transportation for this time, so technically speaking, it does. But I know what you mean.

They might be willing to be generous, but we could also all chip in a little to make a nice pot to pay them for their services, even if they don't ask for it. Seems like the nice thing to do.

Are there so many monsters? That is a tragic thing to hear. [...] There are places even horses cannot reach. No matter what place you go, what transportation there is, there are always lost places, forgotten places, those they cannot reach.

It would be good to do. Money or something else they may like. Though, I cannot say I know any of them particularly well. So once we're somewhere money exists again, that could do it.

In my world there are. In the other worlds I've seen, not as much. [...] You could probably find them if you went looking. You might want to take some backup with you, though. Just to be safe.

Many of them were charging money for their services back in Tumbleweed, to take people around the world there. I'll put something together, even if it's not much. We'll be somewhere that money's needed again, I'm sure.

The latter part is reassuring at least. I firmly believe the wonders in a world should outnumber its nightmares. [...] I am sure the whole gang will be there. It should be moderately safe. Ronan knows how to fight, and not much can hurt Noah.

Reasonable, to receive pay for work done. I too am sure of that. But there is not much to do about it now. Where were you working in Tumbleweed? Would you know how this travel affects jobs there?

They should, and most people in my world don't realize how many monsters there are. I'm just one of the special few. I'm glad you've got backup for your adventures. If you ever know that you have to go somewhere with dark creatures about, though, you can let me know and I'll come with you.

I was working at a hardware store, and also as a math teacher for EPS. The second job came with me, I'm still teaching the displaced kids on the boat. I'm not sure what's happening with my job back home.

There's a great deal in my world most people do not realize happens or exists. Simply, of those I've discovered, I would set more of them in the wondrous or simply strange camp, rather than that of monsters and danger. I do know of the less than stellar reputation magical artifacts collectors. But most of those who misbehave would do so one way or the other. And someone else, already involved, has decided to try to straighten it out, to get people to adapt to a civilized manner of behavior. And if I know there is such danger, I will gladly reach out to you. I'd rather not see my friends in danger when I can avoid it.

That second one works out quite well. I had only just arrived in the previous week or two, over the holidays, when we came here. So I will be sorting that all out on my return.

Most worlds have secrets that most people don't know about. So do you call yourself a magical artifact collector? Or something else? I've not had the best experience with those in my world, but I only ran into the ones who are in it for money or power.

They may still have teaching positions open, if that's something you're interested in.

Oh heavens, no. I have some odds and ends, bits and pieces that weren't worth anything to museums. And I have some gifts I've been given, but I'm not a collector of things. I suppose... I like to find what's been forgotten, the wonder and the magic and spectacular things. But even that doesn't truly cover it. People have tried to put their finger on what it is that makes something Gansey, but most of the time it lands false.

Hmm. There are some subjects I have a better knack for. But there is so much wonderful stuff to learn - and to share.

Interesting. Well, I wish you luck with your [...] wanderlust.

Math isn't my particular specialty, but I was always pretty good at it, and it was what they needed. I haven't looked at what else is available in a long time.

We've had a fair amount of wandering so far. But I hope you haven't been terribly busy killing monsters.

I should be well enough so long as it isn't a language. I may know a few, but either of two of my friends would be better choices than that. Though... I cannot imagine what Ronan would be like as a teacher. Thank you, for telling me about it.

No, not really. At home it's like a daily thing, here it's maybe once a month at most.

I think languages are probably covered. They had Latin, Spanish, ASL, and even Japanese classes last I checked. And it's no problem, I like to help people figure this place out when I can. Do you have any other job interests?

That is strong improvement. I hope we can continue that progress.

My studies outside school focused on history, and it's what I was planning to go to college for. I also have experience with swimming, rowing, preservation and forests. Also with keeping my car running; however, I would not say I would make a great mechanic more broadly. Though through relations to my father, I know a great deal about historical cars and their restoration. But I would not say I have ever tried to turn any of my experience and interests towards a job, just yet.

Sometimes it's a lot better than that. It varies.

You could be a swimming or rowing teacher, maybe. Restoration might be something you could use too, maybe in a museum. What skills are involved in preservation and forests, for you?

They're good skills and apply beyond the sports even with where we've been so far. Boats and water. Even in Texas, there are appropriate places. It can take some work to remove something where it's found and to get it in better shape, after all the wear and tear of the elements. Humans leave a great deal of marks with their passing. I would never say I leave no footsteps or anything of the like, but you can go places, travel... even explore ancient ruins without harming them. And across many myriad environments and places, I have experience doing just that, working to interact with things without destroying or damaging them. Forests, well, I've spent most of that time outside in forests. I've seen old wood forests with trees hundreds of years old, as well as newer ones. I wouldn't be the worst park ranger with what I've learned. And well, since it's something anyone could look up, I am... from a certain point of view made of a forest.

You could see if there are any travel agencies in town, or nearby, that would hire you. Then you'd get to travel on their ticket and only have to do some write-ups of the places you visit, sights and food recommendations, that kind of thing. It's not something I've ever done, but it's a job that exists.
