You would think they've never seen Lekku before.

This was not the planet I set the coordinates to. I've been told that's - more or less - the response they hear a lot.

There are good beings everywhere, and I'm sure it'll be a hospitable place. The quarantine accommodations are nice enough, if still a quarantine.

There are! I've met plenty, and more varied than I ever learned about in school. But yes, the quarantine sort of shows the tech level too. Enough understanding of microbes, etc, to know to do the quarantine and test for things... not enough to just give you like a 5 minute shower or 3 second zap and have you be on your way.

I nearly went stir crazy in there myself, but there's plenty of ways to learn more about earth while you're in there. I watched Bill Nye myself since they're fresh pristine records. That was pretty cool.

What is Bill Nye? I might have to look that up. It did seem like at least there were options for learning about culture.

Bill Nye is a scientist who is very good at explaining science and scientific ideas to non-scientists. Whether or not the ideas are new to you, I found it entertaining and fun.

It might be interesting to figure out a bit about what this planet knows. Thank you for the recommendation.

Oh, yeah that'll probably make it easier to talk with locals. We are kind of in an "interest in space travel" drought so to speak. But the portal seems to tamp down on that possibility itself, whether to keep us at the same functionality as the here and now or to keep us, relatively, close to it, I don't know.

I suspect I'm going to miss space very quickly.

Well, we're all mostly space. There's far more space between our atoms than there is stuff. So it's like you have a piece of it here, with you.

Not the same, but eh?

You make a valid point. I'll get used to it, maybe.

:) Welcome to planet earth. Hopefully not so bad a place to get marooned.
