WHO: Serana and Ysmir
WHERE: Ysmir's forge
WHEN: November 17, afternoon
WHAT: General snark, mild unintentional flirting, chatting, sweaty Nord Dragon boy
WARNINGS: None for now... will change as needed
STATUS: In progress

So far Serana's transition to this new land referred to as Tumbleweed, Texas had been a bit of a task. It was still challenging for Serana to make connections in this new world. It was vastly different from Skyrim in so many ways. She was not used to all of the technology and it took time for her to read through all of network conversations. Not that she really needed to read through them, but many of them were quite amusing and she liked keeping up with others even if she wasn't talking with them. Serana did not respond to others unless she felt in the mood to strike up a conversation. She did suspect it would make her transition a little easier if she'd step out a little more, but so far she really just wanted to acclimate herself to Ysmir's home before venturing too far.

Serana would be forever grateful to him for allowing her to reside in his home. It wasn't the first time she had required a place to sleep, but this was different in that she figured this would be her permanent residence while there. That was assuming they had no falling out.

Ah hahaha! Why would you ever have a falling out with Ysmir? Serana merely grinned at herself as she thought this to herself. He was her dearest and most loyal friend. Any argument could easily be resolved. Serana wasn't that stubborn.

She had refamiliarized herself the manor, because it was just slightly different from the house back in Skyrim. It was Lakeview, but it was different somehow. She had been in Tumbleweed nearly two weeks, and she counted herself fortunate every day that she had Ysmir there to guide her. It wasn't easy for the recently-turned-back-to-human-ex-vampire to live in such a strange world. She was used to very different circumstances. At least here she felt she had a second chance where only her friend knew of her past.

She followed the hallways through the house, finding her way outside toward the forge. It was beginning to get colder. Nothing Serana couldn't handle. She pulled out a pair of sunglasses she had bought (these things were wonderful) and put them on before pulling the hood of her jacket over her head. Some things would never change, and one of them was Serana's need to cover her head when outside. When she reached the forge she would her friend diligently working. A little grin cropped up across her lips, "You're going to overheat yourself if you're not careful, Dragon Boy."

"I'm still sensitive to the sun," she pointed out. It had only been a few short months since Serana had been cured of her vampirism. Sometimes she missed the power it had rewarded her. Overall, she was happy to be done with it. Serana could be gentle. As much as she enjoyed fighting, she had a soft side. Not many people got to see it because she tended to be more sarcastic than sharing her deep, interpersonal feelings. "I step out into the light and there is still the mentality that it will hurt me," she explained. Being in the dark for so long, or else having to protect herself from the sun when out, was not something an ex-vampire could easily get past.

Serana repositioned to cross her arms. She almost looked as though she was guarding him as he rested. "You're overworking yourself," she pointed out matter-of-factly. She understood his work was important, but, "You deserve time away from your forge."

Serana merely watched him walk away without following. If he needed her to follow he would tell her. So she was content with waiting for him to return, if he decided to. When he returned she shook her head, "I'll never get used to the strange clothing they wear here. It doesn't look right." She uncrossed her arms and looked toward the road. "Ready."

He drew her into a brief embrace. "You'll adjust over time, take it easy. One little step at a time." Mentally, he kicked himself for being such an ice-brain. It had taken him a while to become accustomed to being a werewolf, when he first took the beast blood from Aela. Serana recovering from her time as a vampire would take even longer. Not the best thing you could have said, boy.

When he returned from the inside of Lakeview in a new outfit, he was a little more refreshed though he would need a decent bathing once they'd returned. Gesturing at her with a nod of his head towards the road, he took a chance and offered his hand out to her. "I'm not crossing until I know the people driving these things are going to stop completely. I've done some... research. The people that are hit by these vehicles are often seriously injured," he explained briefly.

Once the cars had all stopped, he crossed with Serana into the commercial part of town. There was a gas station just ahead, and he used a little money to purchase a couple cold water bottles for him and Serana to drink on their way to the market. Offering one of them to her, he took a swig out of his own and tied it off to his belt for easy access.

Being embraced by anyone after having been without contact for centuries, even by Ysmir, was still very strange to her. She clapped a hand on his back but didn't embrace him any further. Closeness was not her strong suit. She nodded once, "I'm well aware it will take time, Dragon boy." She added her petname for him in an effort to show his words, and his current actions, didn't not bug her.

At first, Serana hadn't noticed how he offered his hand. She had been staring off in the direction they were to take. When she took note of his hand she very casually took hold of it after he explained about people being injuries by vehicles. "Hm. It seems both those operating the contraptions and those wishing to cross the road ought to practice more caution. Due diligence."

When they had finally crossed, Serana released his hand and walked along with him. At the offering of water Serana thanked him and took a drink. Unlike him, she decided to carry hers. It was no bother. She could drink as needed. "Water in a bottle. If we ever make it back to Skyrim we should create a new industry."
