So they're telling me this isn't a portkey malfunction, and I gotta say that the bloody States would be quite a portkey malfunction and I'd be lucky to be in one piece but I swear the portkey office is more inept than it used to be, and this isn't France.

Obviously.

But also they're saying Bill's here. So. Bill Weasley, are you here? I thought you were in France. What are you doing here? And what have you done with the twins? Uncle Gideon's gonna tan your hide if you've misplaced them.

I mean, I have to ask cause I know how I half the time find out shit from the Prophet before I find it out from my Uncle.

But yeah, I'm seeker for the Chudley Cannons for now, and yeah.
There are two Uncles, but Uncle Gideon's the one that's likely to be upset if we misplaced the twins. Uncle Fabian would be more understanding, cause if you've met them, well you've met them.

I don't think I caught your name?

That would be Gideon? Or Fabian? That isn't good with relaying information?

I bet your brother loves that. And how old are the twins, exactly? They can't be too young? What about the others?

Ah. Right. Rude again. You can call me John for now.

Uncle Gideon's an Auror, and there was this situation where - you know what, not really relevant. Just yeah, he's not always super good with the sharing. Or maybe it's just me.

Which brother? The twins just turned 17. We were all going to join Bill in France cause Gideon doesn't want them underfoo.

All right, John. You've got the questioning down enough that you could be an Auror.

I imagine that can be difficult. But does he talk to you about other things? When you get to see him?

Don't you have others? Bill is in France?

My Father was one. What can I say, it runs in the family.

I go home occasionally and we work our way through a meal until one or the other of us gets frustrated and leaves Yeah, sure. I mean, Uncles, right?

You seem to know a bit about my family. I think I covered everyone except Percy. He's at the Ministry.

Well, if you need a career reference I'll sign one up for ya. I've plenty of experience with Auror's questionings over the years, and you've got that down.

Yeah, I've got quite a few, so I can relate.

Of course. They are a rather famous family, aren't they? In your world? [...] Twins are the youngest?

I'm a math teacher, actually. I specialized in Arithmancy.

Two in one house is enough for anyone, I'd wager.

I mean, I am, but I don't know that the others are so much. Generally speaking. [...] Yeah. Were you expecting something different?

Oh.

I'd say I flunked out of Arithmancy, but that would have meant I'd have had to make the bad decision to take it. I didn't, so no T for me.

I have six.

Interesting. I'd love to hear more about you and your Quidditch career [...] Yes, I was.

It isn't for everyone.

Holy shit. Hopefully they aren't all trying to parent you.

There I guess different universes and all that. But it's a little hard to have further younger siblings after a certain point.

What about Quidditch? Cause, be careful what you ask for - I could talk your ear off on that one.

No, not these days, but I live quite far from them all back home.

Yes. Different universes. And I think we are getting close to seeing the fissure.

Anything you'd love to tell me. I'm not much of a fan myself, much to my Mother's chagrin.

I've moved out, but doesn't seem to keep them from having opinions.

Is th Yeah. I think probably.

I signed up after Hogwarts. I got an offer for a couple of other teams, but the family always liked the Cannons and I kinda figured maybe I could help them get a little further up in the league, you know? I've got a good record too.

I didn't give mine enough information to have opinions. Makes sense.

Shall I pull off the bandaid for you now?

How much further have they gone up since you joined? Our of curiosity?

Go for it. I'm curious what you've figured out.

Not as much as I'd like for them to have gone. We have better over-all stats than we did when I started, which is something. The team's a good enthusiastic team and we love what we do.

I need to ask more questions to properly figure things out but I've narrowed down that, for some reason, things deviate in 1979. Weasley children are good bench marks for figuring out time without asking. And Gideon is your guardian. The rest I am surmizing isn't pleasant.

Would you like to ask me questions?

I'm glad they are improving at least a fraction. That will mean something to certain people.

For that to narrow it down so much means in some universe I must have another sibling, probably. But '79 was a shit year, so you've got that part right.

Yeah, maybe, but I don't know if you can answer them. How well do you know my family? and also, how many universe's are there?

Yeah, I just would want Dad to be proud of what I've done with them.

I am sorry that I couldn't put it more delicately. I was trying to map things out before you were hit with the emotional boulders, as they say. But yes.

I know your family intimately. Or at least the version from my world. And I'd say beyond measure.

Arthur isn't... I am sure he would have. No matter what.

Yeah. Cause [...] yeah.

[John & Charlie]
Okay, enough fucking about with vague bullshit. It's too early for this. Are you a Weasley then?

Death Eaters attacked the burrow when I was seven. Pretty sure if we hadn't been at Gideon and Fabian's we'd have all been killed too.

Potter. I'm a Potter. My Mother is a Weasley. And since we are kicking the bullshit to the side, technically my name is Albus as well as John.

[...] I don't know what to say to that.

Albus. Okay. Is it Albus John, or John Albus?

Like James Potter?

My brain hurts.

There aren't Am I, or other me, whatever, one of those six Uncles? If so, I apologize in advance.

You don't have to say anything; it was a long time ago. We dealt. For all I give them shit, Fabian and Gideon kept things pretty good for us considering there was a war for most of our childhood.

Albus Severus. John is my muggle name.

Harry Potter is my Father. James is my Grandfather.

He is. The other one, if you we're wondering, is named Ron. But Ron isn't here, neither is Fred or Percy.

No, I understand that. It is just [...] very different from the life I know. And [...] even if I'm not family in your world, you all are in mine so [...] it is a shock.

Usually deviations with our world spur off from one general time period. You are earlier and it is [...] unusual.

Do you mind if I ask how the war ended in your world?

You named after Snape? That’s probably rude to ask. Forget it.

Yeah, I get that. I mean, I’m starting to. I think. I have a sister then. Or other me does. I should probably get a list of who I’m sorta related to from you before I make an ass out of myself to a relative.

War ended in ‘91. Dumbledore finally ended Voldemort. I say ended. Like, I don’t know - the thing my Uncle didn’t tell me was that Dark Marks had been sighted again. And Tonks talked about Voldemort returning in ‘96. But that’s a year off yet for me. I assume he’s dead still in mine. Mostly I try to just play Quidditch. And until this summer I thought I could get away with it.

I am. And it isn't rude. It's a question I've heard many times over.

I can work on a list for you. If you'd like. It wouldn't be any trouble. [...] I'll warn you that you are sort of related to most of our company.

[...] 1991? That's --- alright. Does Harry exist in your world? [...] In my world, Voldemort was defeated in 1981 after trying to use a killing curse on my Father. My Father is the only known survivor of a killing curse. Voldemort would return again in 1996, like Mrs. Tonks said, but would ultimately be defeated again in 1998.

Just - not my favorite Hogwarts professor. I'm guessing there's a story here.

It might be helpful. And connections, if you've got them. All of this is kind of making my head hurt.

No.

[...]

Okay, I'm saying this and it's occurring to me as I write it that this means you don't exist double over, and I'm sorry, mate. Cause that's - what did you call it? An emotional boulder? That's definitely that.

I don't really know the Potters that well, to be honest. I saw both of them at Alice Longbottom's funeral first of the summer, but I do know that their son was killed early on in the war. Probably '81 - that sounds about right. Apparently the killing curse stuck in my world for some reason. Like, I said, I don't know them that well, and I've never really asked Uncle Gideon or Fabian about it. I do know things have been all right since the early 90s, although they're kinda mental about magic use. Everything's registered, and there's restrictions on what type of magic you can use depending on what you're licensed for, that kind of thing.

He wasn't my Father's favorite either. In fact, I'm certain he was his absolute least favorite. [...] He did have a hand in helping to stop Voldemort. He was a double agent for a long time and when he died, people thought he was on Voldemort's side. My Father wanted to make it clear where his heart really lay at the end.

You're in luck. Charts are a hobby. I'll make you one.

It is one but I braced myself the moment I noticed your arrival. You aren't the first person to come from a different variation of our world and I suspect I do not exist in the other two currently represented ones, either.

Dad--- Excuse me? Did the Ministry set this up?

Huh. Wonder if that's true in mine too. I always just figured he was an asshole. More or less.

Charts are great, although usually I'm charting Quidditch stuff, not family trees.

For what it's worth, you've been super helpful.

Yeah, the Ministry was a push behind it. That's kinda why I figured it was just ineptitude at first. I know what Fred and George are getting at Hogwarts isn't what I got.
