My first weekend in Tumbleweed was spent with plaster, paint and one too many exhausting trips to the hardware store.

Does anybody here do handyman work? The labor I hired are unsatisfactory.

[Private to Padme]

Ms Naberrie, may I introduce myself; I am Mycroft Holmes. You might have already been notified about me. I have been given a post in the Mayor's office, and shall be working along side of you.

It's okay. A lot of people here know a lot about me, and I'm not trying to keep anything a secret.

A ward would work beneath your floors, yes. And it would be a lot more permanent that way, more difficult to break. You're welcome to watch, and I'll explain everything that I'm doing.

What kind of elements, if you don't mind me asking? Just about anything could show up here, so it's good to know about things ahead of time whenever possible.

I was there for over a year, probably closer to two. Then I was on an island for a few months, and then in Tumbleweed, then in space, then Tumbleweed, then Tumbleweed in the past, and then back to present. I've lost track of my overall timeline in all that, so all I can give you is an estimate.

I'll be there, then. One o'clock should work.

It's hard to keep anything a secret here, when one may only Google or YouTube most if not all your life.

Specifically, Jim Moriarty. Not strictly the kind of demon you're accustomed to dealing with, but a demoniac person, nevertheless. I assume you're familiar with my source material enough that you recognize the name? I can only trust that if somebody that dangerous comes through the portal, the military will keep him in quarantine, indefinitely.

Sounds like quite the roller coaster ride. Are such occurrences common in Tumbleweed?

Thank you, Mr Winchester.

Yep. Basically. I'd rather people heard my life story from me, but I can't fault anyone for googling me; I do it sometimes myself.

Oh. Yes, I have heard of him. I'd rather he didn't show up here either. I'm not exactly sure what the military would do; so far as I know they've never kept anyone in quarantine indefinitely. But there's a first time for everything.

If you're here long enough, I think you'll probably end up seeing some of the roller coaster yourself. But just because that's been the pattern doesn't mean it's a sure thing.

You're welcome. And you can call me Sam.

Are you going to do it for me? If you haven't already?

For all we know, there's a group of people that have come through the portal that the military hasn't allowed tablets, and were immediately locked up after they've been determined to be undesirable elements.

If it's all the same to you, I'd prefer to keep it formal.

I haven't, and I wasn't planning on it. As a rule, I mostly do it when I suspect someone might be hostile, and therefore would be less forthcoming. With everyone else, I like to get to know them the normal way.

That's also true.

[...] Okay. So, should I call you Mr. Holmes?

I suppose it's more rewarding the 'normal way'.

Please, do. Thank you.

It's truer to a person's lived experience, I think. There's always an outside perspective when it's from wikipedia.

Alright, Mr. Holmes.

I automatically read people, without the use of the internet, so it makes little difference to me.
