My first weekend in Tumbleweed was spent with plaster, paint and one too many exhausting trips to the hardware store.

Does anybody here do handyman work? The labor I hired are unsatisfactory.

[Private to Padme]

Ms Naberrie, may I introduce myself; I am Mycroft Holmes. You might have already been notified about me. I have been given a post in the Mayor's office, and shall be working along side of you.

Certainly. But beyond credit checks (the military is helping with documents), they require being paid. Which, I suppose you'd have an easier time finding a job, but those usually only provide so much every two weeks or month. Lack of rent, I suppose, means you could just pay however much you would have paid on that to fixing a place up. Still seems like a lot, on the straight and narrow.

Tomorrow I begin my employment at the Mayor's office. I shouldn't have any difficulty paying my bills.

The state of the rooms where I was invited to stay was not up to standard. Renovation was long overdue.

Congratulations. Hope it's what you'd choose to do regardless.

So long as renovation's accepted then it can be up to standard. So you're halfway there already. Are you getting rid of anything electronic? If it's going to the recycling/trash, I could help with that for finder's keepers.

I'm staying in an apartment kept by my younger brother who invited me to stay. Renovating the rooms was one of my conditions for living there.

What sort of electronic things are you looking for?

Ah. Guess he wants you around.

Honestly, if it even has a resistor I can use it. But preferably with circuits, good wiring, or something I can connect to a circuit or computer. I could sort through it myself.

The work being done in the rooms won't be that extensive, so I'm afraid that I don't have the goods you need.

However, how much are you ordinarily willing to pay for these items, and what do you intend on doing with them?

Well, I'll find them somewhere.

Capitalism? Depends on how easily/cheaply I can find it. And I'll be using it to build tech we don't have here, either stuff I've seen in my universe or whatever will help study the portal / interdimensional physics / etc etc.
