Who: Alecto, Amycus, Lucius
What: Discussing the Death Eaters and Alecto's potential to be recruited
Where: Head Boy's room, Slytherin dorms
When: Immediately after the Quidditch match
Status: Incomplete
Rating: PG

It was right after the Quidditch match, and instead of getting ready to go out into Hogsmeade, Lucius had sent notice to Alecto and Amycus via his well-paid first year messenger, the boy breathlessly tracking them down and telling them that the Head Boy wanted to see them. When he returned with confirmation of the delivery, Lucius was amused to see how flustered he looked. He was certainly glad that he didn't need to go trudging about the castle hunting the twins down. He was tired enough after the banter with Alecto in his journal, but he set that aside and straightened his freshly washed hair in his morror, tugging on his crisp robe collar and smoothing out any perceivable wrinkles.

As he gazed at himself, he mused about the upcoming conversation. If she would not be receptive, he prepared himself with a well-learned Obliviate, his wand conveniently tucked against his hip in relative safety. The Dark Lord had been pleased with his suggestion, and Lucius was ever prepared to make amends for being outspoken what seemed so long ago now. He didn't need to be in Voldemort's bad sights during this assignment. It was of the utmost importance that he succeed no matter what he had to do. With a smirk, he thought to Narcissa and her reaction to him lately. Even there, he would be sure to win. The little niggling voice that spoke of deeper, more sentimental things was tucked safely at the back of his mind, always silenced before the voice got too loud. He didn't need to think about anything aside from work; even the Dark Lord had noticed his distraction. Lucius reminded himself to strengthen his Occlumency at the nearest opportunity.

For now, he stood from the mirror and headed to his desk, preparing a progress report for his Master. He would wait as patiently as needed for his summoned party to arrive.

Alecto's posture immediately changed. She shifted away from her brother so she could give him a look. Her lips pursed even tighter as she stared at him. If he knew what this meant, that meant he'd hid something from her. That never boded well for Amycus. She utterly ignored Lucius for a minute, making sure Ammycus realized the moment she thought he knew something she didn't he'd be very unhappy.

Then she turned to look at Lucius, her posture a whole world of different, her head was up, her eyes were still narrowed. One leg crossed over the other. The one foot on the floor was balanced on her toes. She'd turned her attention from her twin and given it wholly to Lucius. "Warnings. Words." she waved her hand lightly. "What are you up to, Lucius?" she said with a calculating tone of voice. She was by no means dumb - in fact she was rather intelligent - and her mind was already spinning on ideas.

Amycus felt Alecto move away from him and he looked down at her, a little afraid of what he'd see on her face. He shot Lucius an angry glare as he stood up from the chair arm and moved to an empty chair, falling into it miserably as he pulled his cigarettes out and lit one. "I know what it's about," he said, looking around for something he could for an ashtray. There wasn't any point in him playing dumb about this meeting in an effort to keep Alecto from finding out he'd been keeping something from her. Not now that Lucius had called him on it like he had.

"Just get on with it Lucius," he said, his voice coming out tired and bored. He knew that his friend was both willing and capable of following through on his threat with regards to making them forget but he'd never been the sort to show his concern in public and he didn't intend to start now. Besides, he was certain that this meeting would go well. Alecto was far too intelligent to allow an opportunity like this to pass her up.

Nodding at the understanding that Lucius now had with the two, he continued with his well-rehearsed speech, leaning forward in his chair and looking at them both in equal turns.

"I'm certain that these 'dark rumours' have made it to your ears, Alecto. What you may not know is the extent of these rumours. There was no slip of parchment; that was a story concocted by some fool with too much time on hand," his tone indicating that he'd already dealt with the situation, "but enough about that. You are the perfect candidate for initiation into the group we like to fondly call the Death Eaters. How much do you know about them?"

His attention was completely on Alecto now, eyes practically burning into hers. He was keeping watch for any little movement that she might make, senses heightened and on his guard.

Alecto looked for a moment a Lucius. Then the puzzle pieces fell into place. "I know precious nothing." she said coldly before looking at her twin, then back to Lucius. "Your business on Valentine's was about that, wasn't it?" she then looked over at her twin. "And let me guess. Your wanderings and disappearances deal with this." she pursed her lips.

She pushed her long hair out of her eyes once more then sniffed. "Tell me more." she ignored her brother, looking at Lucius. She was seething at her twin - he had kept this from her and it pissed her off. A muscle in her jaw twinged as she clenched her jaw. She'd kick his ass later.

Amycus found himself barely listening to Lucius' speech. It was almost the same thing that Lucius had said to him months before. He was more concerned with Alecto's reaction, meeting her gaze when she looked at him with a guarded expression. "Yes," he said, his voice calm despite the misery he felt inside.

He grabbed an item at random, tapping his cigarette on the edge to get rid of some of the ash. He noticed Alecto's jaw muscle as it started to twinge and knew that he would have hell to pay with her later.

"It was indeed," he confirmed while facing Alecto. With a quick flick of his wand, he'd aimed a vanishing spell toward Amycus, hitting his fag and the stray ashes, and making them all disappear. Cold eyes turned sharply to him as he quickly warned:

"I don't need my belongings soaking up that stench, so if you please." Lucius pointedly watched Alecto again, setting his wand down with a hand still on it.

"We targeted Sirius Black for a... delicate task, and I did what I needed to get it done. Now our Master has his eye on you, among other hopefuls. Do you feel that you can devote yourself entirely to a cause, one which would see purebloods reign above all, whilst steadily setting aside the muggle scourge?" He'd spoken so casually, so easily, that it he could likely drawl out those hateful words in his sleep.

She gave Lucius a look - she didn't like him doing that to her twin. It made her twitch in annoyance but she stilled. This wasn't about her brother. Or even Lucius. She lifted her eyes in his direction and pulled her lips into a tiny smile. She pushed her hair out of her eyes once more.

"Mm." she stated then ignored him for a moment, she didn't care what he explained. Right now she wasn't loving Lucius. Which is fine - she didn't mind having issues with him some days. They were from the same world but different parts of it. "Of course." she said in reply to his question.

Amycus wasn't surprised to see his fag disappear at a flick from Lucius' wand. He silently pulled his pack of cigarettes out of his pocket, pulling another one out and lighting it all the while not removing his eyes from Lucius face. He knew that his persistence in smoking would get on his friends nerves and at the moment nothing appealed to him more than aggravating Lucius.

"Then you should have picked somewhere else for this little meeting," he said lazily, taking a long pull off his cigarette and bumping the ashes off onto the object next to him. He turned his attention to Alecto as Lucius resumed his speech. He was already certain he knew what her answer would be before the other boy even finished speaking.

Even knowing what she'd say, he couldn't fight back the brief smile that flashed across his face when she answered the question. He turned his gaze back to Lucius, taking another long pull off the cigarette that still burned in his hand. He hadn't been in one of these meetings since his own talk with Lucius months before and he wasn't certain what to expect next.

Instead of letting his eyes narrow at the gall of the boy sitting before him, he merely ignored the action intended to rile him, focusing on what he had to say. Lucius wouldn't give Amycus the satisfaction of annoying him unless it became particularly tiresome; with Amycus though, it seemed entirely likely.

"Good," he said shortly in reply to Alecto. The tension between the two didn't pass by his notice; he merely wanted to get his portion of his job done so that he could escort the twins out for them to sort their issues on their own. Always such an odd pair that he didn't want to think too much on what went on beyond the surface.

"We will be arranging a meeting for you at a future date, so prepare yourself and be mindful of our Master's vast magical abilities. He does not tolerate any semblance of disrespect." Lucius didn't clarify exactly who 'we' referred to, leaving it ambiguous enough to not give away too much. He sat up straighter and unfolded his hands as though he were finished, eying each of them for a minute before pointing his wand at the door and releasing the wards and charms.

"Make sure to keep yourself available in the evenings, Alecto. And Amycus," his steady gaze rested on his colleague, "if you insist upon testing my patience again, those things very near and dear to you may suffer the consequences."
