It was right after the Quidditch match, and instead of getting ready to go out into Hogsmeade, Lucius had sent notice to Alecto and Amycus via his well-paid first year messenger, the boy breathlessly tracking them down and telling them that the Head Boy wanted to see them. When he returned with confirmation of the delivery, Lucius was amused to see how flustered he looked. He was certainly glad that he didn't need to go trudging about the castle hunting the twins down. He was tired enough after the banter with Alecto in his journal, but he set that aside and straightened his freshly washed hair in his morror, tugging on his crisp robe collar and smoothing out any perceivable wrinkles.

As he gazed at himself, he mused about the upcoming conversation. If she would not be receptive, he prepared himself with a well-learned Obliviate, his wand conveniently tucked against his hip in relative safety. The Dark Lord had been pleased with his suggestion, and Lucius was ever prepared to make amends for being outspoken what seemed so long ago now. He didn't need to be in Voldemort's bad sights during this assignment. It was of the utmost importance that he succeed no matter what he had to do. With a smirk, he thought to Narcissa and her reaction to him lately. Even there, he would be sure to win. The little niggling voice that spoke of deeper, more sentimental things was tucked safely at the back of his mind, always silenced before the voice got too loud. He didn't need to think about anything aside from work; even the Dark Lord had noticed his distraction. Lucius reminded himself to strengthen his Occlumency at the nearest opportunity.

For now, he stood from the mirror and headed to his desk, preparing a progress report for his Master. He would wait as patiently as needed for his summoned party to arrive.

Amycus wasn't surprised to see his fag disappear at a flick from Lucius' wand. He silently pulled his pack of cigarettes out of his pocket, pulling another one out and lighting it all the while not removing his eyes from Lucius face. He knew that his persistence in smoking would get on his friends nerves and at the moment nothing appealed to him more than aggravating Lucius.

"Then you should have picked somewhere else for this little meeting," he said lazily, taking a long pull off his cigarette and bumping the ashes off onto the object next to him. He turned his attention to Alecto as Lucius resumed his speech. He was already certain he knew what her answer would be before the other boy even finished speaking.

Even knowing what she'd say, he couldn't fight back the brief smile that flashed across his face when she answered the question. He turned his gaze back to Lucius, taking another long pull off the cigarette that still burned in his hand. He hadn't been in one of these meetings since his own talk with Lucius months before and he wasn't certain what to expect next.

Instead of letting his eyes narrow at the gall of the boy sitting before him, he merely ignored the action intended to rile him, focusing on what he had to say. Lucius wouldn't give Amycus the satisfaction of annoying him unless it became particularly tiresome; with Amycus though, it seemed entirely likely.

"Good," he said shortly in reply to Alecto. The tension between the two didn't pass by his notice; he merely wanted to get his portion of his job done so that he could escort the twins out for them to sort their issues on their own. Always such an odd pair that he didn't want to think too much on what went on beyond the surface.

"We will be arranging a meeting for you at a future date, so prepare yourself and be mindful of our Master's vast magical abilities. He does not tolerate any semblance of disrespect." Lucius didn't clarify exactly who 'we' referred to, leaving it ambiguous enough to not give away too much. He sat up straighter and unfolded his hands as though he were finished, eying each of them for a minute before pointing his wand at the door and releasing the wards and charms.

"Make sure to keep yourself available in the evenings, Alecto. And Amycus," his steady gaze rested on his colleague, "if you insist upon testing my patience again, those things very near and dear to you may suffer the consequences."
