Who: Lochlan and Lily
Where: Lily's House
When: Early Evening
Lily had been zoning out in the shower, soaking up the warmth of the water after the chilled morning she spent by the lake with Gin. She was kind of just as confused as she had been prior to talking things out with her new friend, but she at least had some additional insight to take into consideration. She reached forward to turn off the stream, dressing herself absent mindedly in a cozy sweater and leggings while her mind drifted over their conversation and how she could fight for Lochlan, stepping into the hall with a towel to dry her hair when she heard a knock on the door. She quirked a brow, not sure exactly who it was since she hadn't been expecting company. Maybe it was some knight on a horse offering to whisk her away from zombies and vampires and werewolves and general insanity. Her imagined knight bore a striking resemblance to Lochlan, complete with one of those medieval helmets and heavy, heavy armor. She wore a rather sad grin then called out, "I'm coming!" She hurried to answer before her mystery guest disappeared. She almost dropped the towel in hand when her eyes rested on Lochlan. She wished he could take her away from all of this, more than anything. "Hey you." She said with a smile, trying not to let her previous thoughts and concerns dominate her expression. She wasn't sure what to say still or what to ask, so she wasn't ready to initiate the topic with him yet.
Lochlan had headed straight to Lily's house after his conversation with Eily. He wanted to talk to her, see her, tell her that he thought things were going to be okay finally. They at least had a shot at something without the lingering idea of another girl hanging over them. He let his nose play with the distinctive Lily smell the closer he got to her house, finding himself smiling unconsciously. He was still a bit drunk from all the whiskey he'd ingested but that was okay. He could still think and talk and that was what counted. When Lily opened the door he impulsively put his arms around her and lifted her off the floor to give her a whiskey-flavored kiss. "Hey, I'm drunk," he announced and kissed her again before letting her down to her feet again. "Couldn't resist, sorry. I'm just happy." He looked at her then, taking her in, that unconscious smile returning to his face. She was so good. She'd put up with so much from him. He was glad he could finally be good back to her and stop running her around the emotional rollercoaster.
Lily hadn't been expecting that greeting, letting out a small, playful yelp as she was lifted before returning his kiss. She laughed at his confession, able to clearly taste what his alcohol of choice had been just from his kiss. She didn't care though, her lips lingering against his until he set her back down on her feet. "Why were you drinking so early?" She asked, not out of any kind of judgement but simply out of curiosity. "To be honest, I haven’t exactly been sober today myself.." She took a step back into the house and lifted a hand for him to take, silently beckoning for him to come in. She caught the way he was looking at her and felt a sudden flutter, like butterflies were dancing in her stomach, placing her free hand there because of the sudden sensation. "What has you so happy?" His smile was contagious, finding hers growing to be more genuine with him as her inspiration. It was amazing how quickly he was able to lift her spirits.
Lochlan liked her lingering kiss and wanted more of them but she had asked him a question so he answered her. "I was having a difficult conversation and it sort of just happened, I guess." He took a deep breath and sifted through the scents but he didn't detect anything specific that hinted at her not being sober. The shower and change of clothes had masked whatever it was. "What had you not sober so early?" he asked, out of curiosity himself. He followed her into the house, staying close to her because the alcohol in his system had him forgetting personal boundaries. Once they were further inside he answered her next question. "I finally feel like things are going to be okay and it makes me happy," he said, unintentionally being vague. He touched her hair, playing with the ends of it like the kid who sat behind you in fifth grade and messed with your hair with a pencil because he had a crush on you.
Lily's curiosity peaked at the mention of a difficult conversation. He seemed happy, but now she wasn't sure if that was more to do with the alcohol. "And you're sure you're okay?" There was an edge of concern in her tone, not wanting to pry if he didn't want to go into details. "Oh. I had a little morning smoke at the lake.." She tried to be a little vague herself, not wanting to bring down the mood with what had driven her there. She hesitated with his next words, seeking a seat on the couch. She had adjusted her hair to rest on her shoulder closest to him in case wanted to keep playing with it, enjoying his closeness. "Oh? As in.. with us?" Her mind wandered to Gin momentarily. Did the ghost go away? Did the woman's husband chase him off? Maybe he just made a decision and it was in Lily's favor? She chewed lightly at her lip, hoping it was that with all her might, though a sense of doubt lingered with that possibility. He did say he had had a difficult conversation so maybe the girl called it quits with him all together. Did that make her the runner up? Maybe. The thing was, even if that idea stung a little bit, she knew that he was important enough to swallow her pride in regards to that. There was always the possibility she was wrong. Love was rarely black and white, after all.
Lochlan nodded and sat down close beside her on the couch. "I'm fine. No, I'm good. Really good." He smiled that she had arranged her hair so he could continue playing with it. He did, curling and uncurling a strand of it around his finger absently as he looked at her a beat too long again. He'd forgotten his train of thought but his eyes brightened when he caught it again. Then he set off on a ramble. "For me but yeah, in extension, for us. I had an epiphany, I think that's what it's called. I realized what I needed to do and saw how I could do it so simply. No more emotional overload. It's done. I'm at peace with it. There's no switch to turn things off, I know that. I don't feel it right now because I'm drunk, obviously," he said and laughed lightly. "But I'm going to be okay finally. And things are so much clearer. The way I feel about you."
Lily relaxed some with a smile when Lochlan reassured her he was good, listening closely as he spoke. She followed along with his words pretty well, nodding her head slowly as her smile began to fade. She was so happy for him that he was figuring out a way to work through his emotional torment, but there was also a piece of her that worried with his words that his feelings would change when the alcohol wore off. She looked to the floor, not able to maintain eye contact with him for her question. "What if you feel differently when you're sober?" She swallowed hard, finally glancing back up to him. Her voice was soft when she spoke again, hesitant. "How do you feel about me?"
He knew he'd given her absolutely no reason to feel their relationship was secure and he felt terrible when he saw her smile fading and she looked away. He made a mental promise to himself to stop giving her reasons to be unhappy. "You know how fast that stuff burns off in my system. I'm already less drunk and my feelings aren't changing." There was a firm absence of the word "yet" there because he was sure they wouldn't change at all. He didn't want them to. He touched her face gently when she looked back. "I want to be with you. I want to find out what it's like to really be together without all the other stuff hanging over our heads." He pushed his face forward to kiss her cheek then sat back.
Lily felt relief at his point because he was right. Long periods of drunkenness just wasn't something he was allotted anymore thanks to his wolfyness. At his explanation of what he wanted with her, she couldn't help the small smile that formed on her lips and the surge of relief, happiness, and excitement that hit her with the realization that this was happening. She was hesitant to believe that they were completely in the clear; being in love with someone else didn't just stop overnight, but he had already addressed that he knew that. Still, despite that, he knew he wanted to be with her now and the possibility of spending time together without the constant up and down and back and forth was incredible. She tried not to get emotional, but she was shedding the weight of all the doubts and fears she had expressed to Gin, and all the good emotions were nudging them out. It was a little overwhelming, but only in the best of ways. She pushed herself onto her knees on the couch, facing him watery eyes. "You mean it?" She just needed to be sure she hadn't heard him incorrectly and that she wasn't daydreaming the words she wanted.
Lochlan watched her demeanor change and felt so much happier than he'd been when he got there. There was hope here and a sense of freedom finally. He felt like everything that had clouded his feelings for her was slipping away. The talk with Sylvia had helped him firmly separate his feelings for Lily from his feelings for Eily. And his conversation with Eily had served to finally express the fact that he was always going to be in the friendzone with her. Which was not what he believed a mate was. Not the idea of it anyway from his conversation with Sylvia. He smiled at Lily and nodded. "I do mean it. And I want to have more family dinners, except Fiona is not allowed to cook them, and I want to go on dates and do normal, couple-y things. Oh and more high hides." He wanted to spend days at a time with her, holed up together with no one but themselves and Princess in the picture. He knew it wasn't feasible because they definitely had lives to deal with but he knew that he wanted to spend a big part of it with her. As much as he could.
Lily let out a soft laugh, emotion ringing heavily through it. She bridged the small gap that existed between them to wrap her arms around his shoulders, resting her cheek in the nook between his neck and shoulder that she loved. She lifted it after a moment to rest her forehead against his, her bottom lip quivering. "I was so afraid I was going to lose you." She pressed her lips softly to his, losing hold of a few tears, but at least not becoming a whimpering mess like she was afraid she would. "I love you." She kept it short for a moment so she could get better control over herself.
Lochlan smiled as she got closer, his arms going around her. He didn't see her bottom lip quiver but he felt it in her kiss. He shook his head as he kissed her back, pulling at her to climb onto his lap. He cupped her cheek in his hand, brushing away the tears with his thumb. He didn't say it back, not because he didn't feel it but because he didn't want to say something that might sound empty because he'd been drinking. Instead he put his feelings for her into another kiss, his fingers finding their way into her hair, tangling gently there.
Lily moved onto Lochlan's lap with his pull, leaning further into his touch. She smiled softly as he wiped away the tears that fell, able to appreciate the silence for the peace that it was. She felt every emotion in his kiss and returned it passionately with her own. It was amazing to her to think of how much could change in the course of the day; just this morning she was sure their relationship was doomed and now here they were, embracing each other and hopeful for what the future held. Her own hands moved to rest at either side of his jaw, tilting her head just a little to the side to deepen her kiss.
Lochlan kept his arms around her as she settled onto his lap. He wanted her so close. Closer than this. He pulled gently at her hair, following her deeper into the kiss. It felt so good to kiss her like this, to connect. Especially without the negative emotions that usually were two steps away from threatening their good time. He knew he wasn't over Eily, not by a long shot, but he also knew that he would get there and that he could love Lily much more freely knowing that he wasn't possibly heading toward breaking her heart anymore. He sighed softly, happily, his kisses trailing away along her jaw to her throat. Each one meant to be a temporary mark of his feelings for her and the fact he wanted to be with her.
Lily’s eyes had slipped closed sometime before Lochlan matched her intensity, his gentle pull at her hair causing her to press herself closer against him. A small sound of pleasure escaped her when his kisses travelled from her jaw to her neck, tilting her head back now to give him better access to her skin. She thought about him lifting her up and carrying her to the bedroom so they could celebrate and express themselves in every way possible, wanting to connect with him again so badly. She tried to keep herself focused on just being in the present moment with him now though, wanting them both to be sober before they essentially consummated their full commitment to each other. She could feel her heart beating faster and she grinned softly, her hands sliding down his neck to rest loosely around his shoulders. “Can we go on a date tonight?” She had kept her voice soft so as not to interrupt the flow of his kisses.
Lochlan was thinking in the same direction she was, that small sound working as quite the encouragement. He trailed his kisses back upward along her throat to her jaw, finding her mouth once more. He wanted to kiss her breathless and take her to bed. He heard her heart begin beating faster and pulled back to give her a little bit of a naughty grin. Her words were not at all what he was expecting but he pressed his lips together thoughtfully. "I think we should do that, yes. Where do you want to go?" he asked, thinking of the minimal choices in the area but then he also remembered Eily saying bad things had happened. "You know, there were some bad things that happened last night, I heard. We probably should stick to places with people or something."
Lily bit her lip when Lochlan gave her that grin, the look alone bringing back to life her difficulty behaving with him. She silently reminded herself it would be more special if they waited.. maybe she could even get candles and all that romantic let’s get it on stuff going. His kisses had stopped, so she decided it was her turn to pick back up with them while she thought. She nuzzled his nose lightly with the tip of hers, pressing a kiss to his lips before playfully snagging his bottom lip between her teeth. She pressed her lips firmer to his again before she pulled away, dipping her head to surprise him with a nip to his neck. “I think most places are still closed..” Her lips grazed along to his jaw, running kisses up to his earlobe. “We might need to get creative.” She grinned and returned her lips to his, though the corners of her lips dipped a little with concern. “Bad things?”
Lochlan closed his eyes as she kissed him, his arms tightening slightly around her as her teeth caught his lip. He grinned at that then arched his neck a bit as she began her trail of kisses. His breath caught softly when she reached his ear, her breath as she spoke giving him an odd but good sensation that made him shiver. "I'm sure we can figure something out. We always do." He nibbled her lower lip, feeling warm and pleasant here with her. He didn't want to think about bad things but he wanted to be sure she was safe. "My cousin didn't really get into it but it sounded like there was a safety issue. Probably shouldn't walk around after dark by yourself." He said "probably" because he wasn't going to dictate to her but he really did want her to be safe.
“Hm.. well, maybe you’ll just have to come protect me.” Lily said with a smile. “I have to drop by Eatzy’s soon to see if it’s open. I was scheduled to work a short shift tonight before the storm hit.” Had she not already given away several of her shifts recently, she probably would have tried to get this one covered so she could just stay with Lochlan. Working for a few hours would give her time to sober up though, and would give him ample time to recover from the alcohol in his system. “You’re making it pretty hard to go, though.” She winked at him, nestling her face into his nook. She playfully raked her teeth against his neck before placing a gentle kiss to his skin, resting her cheek against his shoulder.
Lochlan liked that idea. "I will slay the dragons for you, fair princess. No doubt in Delphi those will be a thing soon too." He chuckled because the idea seemed farcical. If it ever did happen it would so not be funny. They didn't need anything more to disrupt their lives here. It would be nice to have some peace and quiet. He breathed in softly at the feel of her teeth on his neck and chuckled again. "You're not making it very easy to let you go, by the way." He loosened his hold on her a little so he wasn't hugging her to death and pet her hair. "When do you have to go?"
Lily recalled her previous image of Lochlan as a heroic knight saving the day, giggling to herself that the thought was pretty much spoken into existence then. “I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again.. I’m holding out my hope for wereunicorns. Or just unicorns, I’d love to have one as a pet.” She could make light of the situation now that things seemed to be calming down some, but those were probably the only new type of thing she’d be okay with popping up. Unless they were malicious ones that killed people with their glitter horns.. she shook off that idea, redirecting her attention with his question. “Ah.. probably in a few minutes..” She pouted her lips. “If the diner is open, that would make sure I’m on time. But if it’s not.. maybe we can get our date started a little early?” She lifted her head to look at him, hoping she wasn’t being too pushy now.
Lochlan laughed at the mental image of a wereunicorn. "You might have a problem trying to keep a unicorn as a pet, you know. And it's probably my fault. I think werewolves and unicorns are natural enemies or something like that." He kissed her temple and sighed as though it was the worst possible timing. Even though he was sure they had all the time in the world. "Oh alright. I would offer to walk you even though it's not dark but I need to run a few errands. Replace a bottle of whiskey. But text me what the deal is with the diner and I'll meet you when your shift is over wherever you like." He was definitely interested in getting their date started. It felt like a whole new beginning for them where they could be normal people with normal lives doing what normal couples did. No heavy stress and no trauma anymore. They were a whole new them and he was really happy for that.
“Y’know, that does make sense. Wolves and unicorns just don’t get along well in the wild together.” Lily speculated as though it was hard fact, fingers moving to massage at his shoulders. While she certainly didn’t want to part ways with Lochlan right now, hearing his sigh of mild frustration was reassuring in a way. It communicated that he wanted to spend time with her as much as she wanted to spend it with him, and that fact made her incredibly happy. “Sounds good.” She grinned, leaning forward again to get some last minute kisses in before they’d have to temporarily part ways. Tonight would be perfect, she was sure of it now.
