I've woken up in unfamiliar places before... usually naked. This time I was clothed and about 50 years in the future. That's a new one even for me.

Uh, Dr. Bruce Banner here. I was told to use this to connect with some people I may know who are already here.

It takes a minute, but I think you'll be alright. I've had far too much experience wrapping my head around things, I barely even blink anymore.

[...] Although, speaking of which, I should warn you that my partner, Audrey - also in our unit - looks almost exactly like the woman you're talking to below, but they're from different worlds.

You'd think I wouldn't blink anymore either, but I have to admit I never expected this.

Yeah, she mentioned that. How do you keep them straight?

Unfortunately, this isn't my first go at time traveling. Different universe and people from other worlds is new, though.

It's easier for me, I'd know Audrey anywhere.

The universe you're from has unlocked the science behind time travel? That's impressive.

I'll just have to muddle along, I guess.

Not... exactly.

You'll figure it out. There are differences. Usually found in different places, for one thing. Audrey works in Law Enforcement with me, Elena's one of the radio operators. Audrey lives with us, Elena doesn't. Different mannerisms, different clothes. That sort of thing.

So, the time travel is more like this, then? Completely random? Though nothing is ever really

I'm sure I'll manage to figure it out.

No, not random. And I don't think this is particularly random, either.

The only reason I'm not explaining is because it'll probably make your head spin even more, and it won't help you figure out why you're here. But if you want to know, I'll tell you.

I was about to say that nothing is ever really random. There's something at work here, we simply don't understand it yet.

Oh, I always want to know. I probably shouldn't, but I do.

It's something I'll end up explaining sooner or later. In Haven - that's where I'm from - we have what we call the Troubles. They're supernatural afflictions created by people from another world, using aether from the void in between the worlds. The aether is absorbed into a person, and manifests as... well, kind of like what you might call a superpower. Only they can't really be controlled, and they're usually very dangerous.

There was a man who had a time-travel Trouble. That was, he made other people travel in time when he got emotionally distressed. The first time I met him, he was surprised to see me because he'd met me before, way in the past - and that was when he sent me back. It got a bit circular and confusing after that, but I think everything worked out the way it was supposed to.

I have no idea how the time travel works here, unfortunately. It's definitely a question that's been bugging me. Handy thing about the Troubles; no matter how weird they got, we could always trace it back to a person - or multiple people - and figure things out from there. This is... something else.

You're right. It doesn't help make sense of any of this, but I appreciate you sharing it with me anyway. I'm finding this multiple universe idea very fascinating. I have to wonder if one of them has the key to curing me.

[...] I hate to say this, but maybe you should talk to Audrey. Troubles can do almost anything.

Is she one of these Troubles then?

No, the Troubles are the afflictions. There are the Troubled, the people who have them - including myself, but not Audrey. She's learning how to manipulate them and change how they affect people.

So... it's possible that she might be able to help you. It would probably require you getting a Trouble, though. One that was designed to help with your [...] problem. But I'm not sure I'd recommend going down that route.
