With everything that had happened at the lake, being a little cold hadn't exactly been the highlight of his problems when they got back inside. When he'd gone to sleep, he thought that there might be something with the heating or cooling systems, but he'd just pulled on some extra clothes and went to bed anyway.
But he'd woken up only a little bit later to find that he was absolutely freezing. He'd headed into the kitchen, made some tea, fumbling around with fingers that were already starting to go numb. The kettle had whistled, and he'd poured it into the cup, but the warmth from that had been fleeting, barely recognizable. He'd moved on from that, headed into the shower, ran it until it was steaming and then stepped inside -- and realized that he could barely feel that as well.
That was when he actively started to worry. The steam was visible and he worried that he was going to accidentally burn himself, so he'd pulled his clothes back on -- in addition to anything else he could find in his room. He bundled himself in blankets and sat down at the edge of the bed, but the longer he saw there, the colder he got. His teeth started to chatter, and he couldn't stop them -- and then his breath started huffing out in visible white clouds.
He knew something was very wrong. He needed to do something, but he didn't know what. He scanned the network briefly. Nobody else was mentioning this, which made it more alarming. He typed off a quick message to the others, forcing his fingers to move, and then tucked his hands back in against his body.
He didn't think he'd ever been this cold before in his life. District Four had always run hot. He'd seen a couple of winters in the Capitol before, but they felt nothing like this. The cold felt like it was emanating through him, as if his blood was liable to freeze in his veins.
