The sky is the sky, yes? You look up at night, and there are the moons and the stars, and unless you're a scholar you likely don't know more than a single constellation or two. The rest are simply the vast mass of stars, largely indistinguishable from one another.

That was what I thought, at any rate. On patrol tonight, though, I looked up at the sky above, and it wasn't only the fact that we have but one moon here that seemed odd. It was the stars. I couldn't even tell you the names of more than two or three stars in the sky I know, but I can look up into this sky and know that it is not the one I slept under before.

It's a very odd feeling. One thing to know, another to realize.

[Penelope]
I owe you an apology for the other night. It's not as if I don't know that I sleep poorly after a bad day. I ought to have warned you.

It sounds beautiful. I'm not a fan of being in the snow — but the last time I was really in the snow was on Noveria, and that's an extreme case. Cold, clean air and a view to kill for ... I wish I could see it.

You don't have pictures, do you?

I don't care much for cold, either, but as my father used to say "there's no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing." Put on a bear fur cloak to keep the wind out of your ears and it's really not so bad.

I'm afraid not--I am no artist, and we do not have photographs on my world.

You know, I had top-grade armor and I still got snow in my boots. Give me bear fur and maybe Noveria wouldn't have been so bad. Nice decor inside Port Hanshan, though. Tasteful.

[...] What about electricity?

Snow in the boots is miserable. The day I had coin enough to get boots made to fit so I hardly ever had to deal with that anymore was a beautiful day indeed.

Electricity like we have here, running the lights and all? No, nothing of the sort. Until I came here, I had only ever seen it as the destructive power of lightning.

That's completely foreign to me, I'm going to admit that right now.

I can imagine, if you're accustomed to all this! Electricity and such were equally foreign to me when I first arrived. Frankly, it's still rather foreign. Five nights out of seven, I come into my quarters and have to remind myself to turn on the light rather than light a candle.

I went to camp when I was twelve, and stayed overnight for a week at a cabin in the woods. We didn't have any electricity or running water, that's the closest to your kind of life that I've ever led.

I liked the peace and quiet, but I never did it again.

I must admit, showers with hot water are a thing of beauty. Even a king cannot command luxury such as that in my homeland.

Wait until you try a jacuzzi. Someone has to build one around here.

What is a jacuzzi?

It's a hot tub with jets of water that you can lean against and they massage you.

Shepard had one in his apartment on the Citadel. I'm telling you, it's great.

Maker's breath! That sounds amazing. Even just a hot bath is a luxury in my world.

It's beyond good. It's Heaven after a long day. It might be better than sex.

Sex in a jacuzzi, on the other hand...
