It has come to my attention that Dean Winchester is not the current holder of Return of the King, and that it may in fact have been lifted without permission from a common area.

Library books are meant to be returned to the library when the reader has finished with them. They are not meant to be hoarded in private or taken out of turn. Those of us who read depend upon this principle. When members of the community do not abide by the laws of the community, order breaks down and chaos reigns.

Return the book.

LIBRARIANS ARE NOT LIKE US.

Asking someone to volunteer for that is like asking someone to rip open a portal to hell within their own soul.

Librarians are human. Unless they're one of the other species that lives here. But if a person wirks in a library then they do become the librarian.

Librarians thirst for blood. They crave a world where the flesh of their enemies falls from their bones at their approach. They will wrap their tentacles around our bodies and around our souls and drag us into the black, nightmarish realm that is their domain and cultivate a garden of destruction from the ruined flesh of our corpses. Decay will float in the wind wherever they pass.

Why are you saying such horrifying things? However librarians are where you come from, that is not how they are here.

Because it's my duty to inform people of such dangers before anyone does something so unforgivably awful.

The place you come from must be so terrible. I am going to raise my child to be a livrarian just to show you that they're just people. Wonderful people, who love books!

Night Vale might be flawed. It might be tyrannical. It might be unique. It might be imaginary. It might be under assault by the corporate forces of a Smiling God. It might be detached from the normal order of the things. And it is certainly terrible. But it is mine.

Public Service Announcement. The more you know, the greater your chances of being convicted of thought crimes. And the better your chances of eluding the long, inhuman arm of the law.

You say that as if books aren't powerful tools of destruction that will one day rain hellfire down on all of us. Especially when wielded by the grasping claws and eerily child-like hands of librarians.

We need to get some blowtorches.

Why would I burn down the library? That's our last line of defense!

The blowtorches are for when the librarians inevitably break out of the library and come for us.

I am no such thing. A librarian is the most fearsome creature imaginable. Sure, the Night Vale Public Library boasts fatalities higher than the national average for libraries, and some of that is undoubtedly due to the faceless spectre who roams the biography section. But those Randalls are not unique.

We actually used to burn down the library regularly, but we decided it would be safer just to reinforce the walls with military-grade steel.
