► Mod Notes ► Just a clarification on activity checks. The only mod-important check is the end of the month check, for which you need 2 journals and 1 thread. The mid-month check-in is just to let you know how you are doing. A 'pass' on this check-in means you've made some work on filling the monthly requirements - you've either journaled or threaded. A 'fail' means we have not seen anything from you since the start of the month. If you've any questions about this, please let us know. You can hover over your smiley face to see what we have recorded for you. ► find_a_partner, find_a_player, find_players, gamesearch - these are amazing communities where you can go and post requests for characters, or directly recruit people for this game. We'd like to ask each one of you to go to those comms and either post an add yourself, or scour the ads for characters you want or you think our game could use. Everyone here has someone else they'd like to play with, so let's all work together and make that happen! ► CHALLENGE TIME! If you have a female character, and you still need to pass the threading requirement, why not grab another female character and see if the two can pass the Bechdel Test - 1. two female characters; 2. who talk to each other; 3. about something besides a man. ► Character Gains/Losses We didn't lose anyone this month! We gained 2 new players! Taylor brings us Luna Lovegood, and Jennifer brings us Katie Bell! And Natasha brings in Ron Weasley-Granger! Please type your username into the box below, then press "Friends Button." Remember to do it for each of your characters. You have to be logged into a journal to use it for that particular journal. A note about requirements. From here on out, if you have an 'X' next to your name at the end-of-the-month check, you MUST meet monthly requirements at the next end-of-the-month check, or your character will be removed from the game. If there's any reason you find meeting the requirements difficult, let us know! We're here to help! If you'd like to help us, we'd love any suggestions you have on how to make being active easier for you. Otherwise, you need you need 2 journals, and 1 thread to pass the June activity check at the end of the month. ► Ongoing Events The Ministry's restrictions are still in place, meaning that movement outside the home must take place by Floo or apparation only in densely-populated muggle areas. Broom-travel is no longer authorized no matter how far away one is from muggles, and travel by foot or by muggle means through dense muggle areas is permitted only by certain Ministry personnel. There are rumours however, that with the arrival of Quidditch, the restrictions will be lifted. Chatter about this seems to fill every coffee shop, the markets, and the halls of the Ministry itself. For the first time in several months, things seem like they might be getting the better that the end of the War was supposed to bring. ► Upcoming Events On June 20th, the Ministry will announce the end of all travel restrictions. Broom-travel will be permitted so long as one is not in a Muggle-dense area, and foot-travel through Muggle areas will be permitted. On June 18th, Puddlemere will play the Kestrals. On June 25th, the Magpies will play the Bats. Both game will be played with the winner knowing who they will advance to play. So for speculation[and betting The games WILL be sold out, as people are VERY eager for Quidditch, so if you character wants tickets, have them react accordingly. Expect people to be hawking tickets for large sums of money, those who were lucky enough to snag tickets at regular prices. On June 24th, Students return home for the summer from Hogwarts. On June 28th, Christian Iles, the cauldron maker missing for several months, shows up in Hogsmeade with absolutely no memory. He is covered in blood and guts, and members of the Forensics team work frantically to ID the 'body', but as of the end of the month, are unable to figure out who the mysterious person is. ► Behind the Scenes The Minister's ban on new Apparation exams is more popular than one might think. The Minister isn't exactly unpopular and many appreciate the safeguards he's taking to keep the Wizarding World secret. The Ministry has started cracking down on those who are violating the restrictions. Violators will receive a small fee of 25 Galleons (125 pounds) and spend the night in one of the Ministry's holding cells for their first offence. OSTENDO, is still recruiting new members. For those of you who don't remember, OSTENDO's goal is to reveal the existance of magic to muggles. This group operates in independent cells, with each cell having only a passing knowledge of the rest, so that one turncoat can't take the rest down. While every cell knows that OSTENDO's purpose is to repeal the Statute of Secrecy, different cells hold different ideas about what should happen once the Statute is gone. For example, some think that muggles and wizards should be fully integrated, some think that wizards should be the masters of muggles, some think that wizards should come out to muggles but still live apart and some are just plain weird. Within our game, there are two cells, one for those who are generally pro-muggle and one for those who are generally anti-muggle. If your character wants to be in either cell, they have until the end of this month to consider themselves recruited. They do not need to be recruited in-game, though some sort of mention to a member of their cell, or a journal to let us know they are in is required. If you would like to have your character unsuccessfully recruited, please see a mod for approval. And the flip side of that is, of course, The 'Enemies of Wizardkind' List. It's full of the names of people who OSTENDO believes would oppose overturning the Statute of Secrecy, though the TRUE nature of the List is unknown to the general public, and even most members of OSTENDO. As you can see, not all names on the list are visible there. In fact, your character might be on that list. If you think they would have been noted as an enemy but weren't, let us know and they will be added. We're not making a new list or anything, but we're noting it on the character page and it might have some effect later in the game. If you're on this enemies list and would like to have something terrible happen to your character in June, let us know. Limit: One. First come, first served. ► Summary Lavender did not get the part she auditioned for last week. Cormac has a lot of pent up aggression. Apparently you can burn water. And put a tracking device on Kevin. Mandy reports. Marcus struggles to fit in and misses flying. Rose wants to organise a sit-in and finds the humidity unbearable. An Indian holiday runs through part of this month, or so Padma reports. George is a dork and doesn't realise he's in trouble with Padma. Gwen got two standing ovations! Pansy wants to know if she should bring presents to Narcissa's funeral for Draco. Lee can't pay his fine, and can't work up the nerve to ask Leanne out. Gwen sends Draco a gift. Leanne is ready to try her hand at gardening, and identifies Lee as 'someone'. Draco angsts. Penelope and Cormac don't have a date. George is 'going on a trip for business' which really means he's sneaking Padma off on a date. All purebloods involved in the war recieve an owl. There's too many books and Hermione doesn't know what to do with them. Bill demands Hermione hang out with him, and ponders China. Hermione heeds Bill's demands and comes to visit. Lavender is astounded that people paid lots of Galleons to see Quidditch. George and Padma break all the rules. A foreign language fills the journals as Cormac vents. Or maybe he's pleased. No-one else can seem to figure it out either. Witch Weekly arrives! Cormac is NOT PLEASED at the attention a rival Beater is getting. Pansy's fashion choices are scolded by Lavender. Apparently everyone hates Marcus. Zacharias talks Quidditch and privately worries about his meeting with Pansy. Later that evening, Zacharias and Pansy meet. Needing a holiday, Gwen heads to Spain. Padma was very pleased with her date with George. Mandy is excited about Quidditch and her Healing exams. Hermione is very displeased with the Weekly over Neville, but not about their views of her wedding. Kevin and Anthony have a chance meeting. Work, work, work, Katie can't seem to write about anything else. For a variety of reasons, Megan is glad Quidditch is back, and wants pizza. Anthony and Padma have tea and it ends badly. There's a windletow that needs catching, if Luna can get the right supplies. Flouting the restrictions, Lee and George are up to their tricks in Muggle Liverpool. Fleur is pleased the Weekly didn't mention her, and worries about Bill leaving for China. Ginny is happy for Quidditch, and is hosting a party for her daughter. |
