► Mod Notes ► First off, let us say that we've both had a pretty crazy month, so we're sorry that we haven't been here as much as we ought to. All tables, should be current right now ... if they are not, let one of us know, and we'll get right on it. ► find_a_partner, find_a_player, find_players, gamesearch - these are amazing communities where you can go and post requests for characters, or directly recruit people for this game. We'd like to ask each one of you to go to those comms and either post an add yourself, or scour the ads for characters you want or you think our game could use. Everyone here has someone else they'd like to play with, so let's all work together and make that happen! ► Our ads are ... well, kinda old. They need some new jazz and sass. If you've an idea for an ad, you can supply us with the text and images and we'll do all the coding for you. Because we are just that awesome. ► Character Gains/Losses We lost Caly and her two characters, Morag and Daphne. We gained 2 new players! Dee2 brings us Ginny Weasley, and Jo2 brings us Marcus Flint! Please type your username into the box below, then press "Friends Button." Remember to do it for each of your characters. You have to be logged into a journal to use it for that particular journal. A note about requirements. From here on out, if you have an 'X' next to your name, you MUST meet monthly requirements at the next check, or your character will be removed from the game. If there's any reason you find meeting the requirements difficult, let us know! We're here to help! If you'd like to help us, we'd love any suggestions you have on how to make being active easier for you. Otherwise, you need you need 2 journals, and 1 thread to pass the June activity check at the end of the month. ► Ongoing Events The Ministry's restrictions are still in place, meaning that movement outside the home must take place by Floo or apparation only in densely-populated muggle areas. Broom-travel is no longer authorized no matter how far away one is from muggles, and travel by foot or by muggle means through dense muggle areas is permitted only by certain Ministry personnel. There are rumours however, that with the arrival of Quidditch, the restrictions will be lifted. Chatter about this seems to fill every coffee shop, the markets, and the halls of the Ministry itself. For the first time in several months, things seem like they might be getting the better that the end of the War was supposed to bring. ► Upcoming Events QUIDDITCH IS BACK! The silent auction/donations raised more than enough money to hold the playoffs. To recap: 2 of the 4 'tier one' playoffs have been played. Pride beat Tornadoes; the Falcons beat the Wanderers. On June 18th, Puddlemere will play the Kestrals. On June 25th, the Magpies will play the Bats. Both game will be played with the winner knowing who they will advance to play. So for speculation[and betting The games WILL be sold out, as people are VERY eager for Quidditch, so if you character wants tickets, have them react accordingly. Expect people to be hawking tickets for large sums of money, those who were lucky enough to snag tickets at regular prices. Harry Potter causes a stir on June 5th, when he attends the funeral of Narcissa Malfoy. He and Draco have a few words in private before the start of the ceremony. [Please note, if you have a light-leaning character and they also attend the ceremony, there will be stirrings/speculation about them as well - thought not nearly as great as HP.] On the 7th, someone attempts to break into the Nott family residence, but is thwarted by heavy wards. The culprit is largely suspected to be Lestrange. The next morning, a veiled threat is mailed to all pureblood families. On June 11th, Avery Pickens, a Hogwarts student taking his Apparation exam, will Apparate to the wrong spot - the middle of a Muggle park in Lancaster. Luckily, the area is not densely populated, and the Obliviators at the scene are able to do their jobs effective. However, immediately following the incident, the Minister decrees a ban on all new Apparation exams. It's not a permanent ban, just one in place until the Ministry can find more safeguards to implement during examinations. Also on the 11th, Morag MacDougal is reported missing. On June 28th, Christian Iles, the cauldron maker missing for several months, shows up in Hogsmeade with absolutely no memory. He is covered in blood and guts, and members of the Forensics team work frantically to ID the 'body', but as of the end of the month, are unable to figure out who the mysterious person is. ► Behind the Scenes The Minister's ban on new Apparation exams is more popular than one might think. The Minister isn't exactly unpopular and many appreciate the safeguards he's taking to keep the Wizarding World secret. The Ministry has started cracking down on those who are violating the restrictions. Violators will receive a small fee of 25 Galleons (125 pounds) and spend the night in one of the Ministry's holding cells for their first offence. Already on edge with the Greengrasses and Malfoy murder, purebloods will enter panic mode after receiving a veiled threat. Many - both DE and Light sympathizers - will assume the threat came from Lestrange. Both sides find themselves seeking a common goal - the arrest and imprisonment of Lestrange. More prominent families will put pressure on the Minister to allocate more Aurors towards finding him. The appearance of Christian Iles will send list-members into apprehension. So far, all of the List members that have been directly messed with haven't had happy endings. Christian is the first to be found alive - not that this alive is better than being dead. OSTENDO, is still recruiting new members. For those of you who don't remember, OSTENDO's goal is to reveal the existance of magic to muggles. This group operates in independent cells, with each cell having only a passing knowledge of the rest, so that one turncoat can't take the rest down. While every cell knows that OSTENDO's purpose is to repeal the Statute of Secrecy, different cells hold different ideas about what should happen once the Statute is gone. For example, some think that muggles and wizards should be fully integrated, some think that wizards should be the masters of muggles, some think that wizards should come out to muggles but still live apart and some are just plain weird. Within our game, there are two cells, one for those who are generally pro-muggle and one for those who are generally anti-muggle. If your character wants to be in either cell, they have until the end of this month to consider themselves recruited. They do not need to be recruited in-game, though some sort of mention to a member of their cell, or a journal to let us know they are in is required. If you would like to have your character unsuccessfully recruited, please see a mod for approval. And the flip side of that is, of course, The 'Enemies of Wizardkind' List. It's full of the names of people who OSTENDO believes would oppose overturning the Statute of Secrecy, though the TRUE nature of the List is unknown to the general public, and even most members of OSTENDO. As you can see, not all names on the list are visible there. In fact, your character might be on that list. If you think they would have been noted as an enemy but weren't, let us know and they will be added. We're not making a new list or anything, but we're noting it on the character page and it might have some effect later in the game. If you're on this enemies list and would like to have something terrible happen to your character in June, let us know. Limit: One. First come, first served. ► Summary In a rare move, Pansy apologises to Susan. The behind the scenes isn't that rare, as Pansy admits it's like kicking rabbits and ducklings. Susan, naturally, wants to know what the hell just happened. Lavender bounces with excitement over some scripts and also wonders what the hell Pansy is playing at. Lavender and Dawlish change their luck, just a little bit. Neville is looking for information on the disappearance of the Greengrasses. [Pansy totally called Draco doing it, even if she doesn't know it.] Terry is looking for some Ben-less time and pleads for an adult to talk to him. Theo and Draco maybe possibly say some horrendous things about Pansy. Terry and Mandy are baffled by a case study. Lavender insists that Neville accompany her to the Quidditch fundraiser. Neville is more than happy to comply. Quidditch Fundraiser! Penelope bought way too much stuff at the fundraiser. Waaay too much. Cormac wins ... something, and reminds everyone that no, he does not have a secret daughter, that was his niece. Something scandalous, or, Witch Weekly. Dawlish very nobly defends the young Aurors he works with. No-one - I repeat, no-one - is as good as the Weird Sisters, says a devastated Gwen upon reading of their impending break up. George thinks he gave a sparkling interview and offers to give things away to Weekly destroyers. Ginny Weasley is not a boy and Evan is for Evans, stupid. Draco mocks the plebes over the change your luck contest. And then he forgets to taunt Pansy. Bill writes a mini-novel. No really. Gwen is bored, but it's opening week soon! So she can't be that bored, right? Hermione thinks the Quibbler might have more facts than the Weekly. Neville didn't even try to make arresting Lee fun, and Lee's rather disappointed about it. New-Susan and Old-Susan meet up while shopping for produce. Megan clearly hasn't been having very many good mornings after, judging by her displeasure with the Weekly. Also, she took a bit of time off work after being arrested. Narcissa Malfoy is killed, and the Daily Prophet tells all. Gwen attempts to comfort Draco, but seems to be enraging him all the more. Padma and Anthony have a much needed get-together. Penelope is explaining away Big Ben and writing a book. Some are less than pleased. Tim needs to put his bat somewhere, maybe by the tail and daddy!sardines. But maybe not. Rose and Leanne run into each other for the first time since breaking up three years ago. George is taking applicants for new best friends. Lee need not apply. Leanne did not win the Holyhead robes she so desperately coveted. |
