The Arrival of the Doctor's Daughter
Jenny runs down the corridor of the large temple, and then around the corner. She presses her back up against the wall, catching her breath before shouting, "Hey, I was just trying to help!" She winces at the sound of approaching gunfire.

Apparently, they don't want her help. Never did, really.

Jenny had arrived on the planet only hours ago, her shuttle in need of refueling. Moments after getting out of her shuttle, she had literally run into a group of Malinaks. Malinaks are tall, thin, blue creatures with two bulging green eyes and eight tentacles that line the tops of their heads. They speak a sort of broken English, an English that is combined with another language she doesn't know so that she literally understands only every other word.

But she had very quickly realized that they were panicked. And it had something to do with a glowing crystal, some sort of religious artifact that was out of reach for the Malinaks. Well, this is what exploring is all about for Jenny! Exploring new planets, meeting new races, and helping out where she can. So she asked where this crystal was supposed to be, and they lead her straight to it. It was in the back of these black caves, stuck up in a high spot, but not unreachable. To be honest, she hadn't been able to understand why the Malinaks couldn't just retrieve it themselves. Or why they had seemed so worried, shouting warnings, as she nimbly climbed the cave wall and picked the crystal up.

Jenny shakes her head at the thought now, muttering to herself, "Religious artifact." Which is only apparently allowed to be touched by the head of the Malinak clan, who happens to be missing. Which is why the Malinaks had been so worried---they didn't know who would be able to retrieve it for their daily prayers. She mutters again, "Oh, yes, I know all that now. Fat lot of good it does me, I've already committed sacrilege."

The footsteps and the gunfire are getting closer and closer. Jenny scans the corridor for anything, any way out, but apparently she's hit a dead end. And then she looks up. Jenny can't help but grin. She jumps up, grabbing onto a metal bar, wrapping her arms and legs around it. She waits for the Malinaks to pass her, to walk right beneath her.

But they never come. Because soon Jenny is falling, hard and fast, but she can't remember ever letting go of the bar. And, in one eye blink, she is slamming into the concrete in the middle of Cardiff.

"Honestly, Dad, even I followed that much." She tucks her hands into her coat pockets while everyone else is busy hugging. "So this is the Doctor... Am I smelling fresh coffee? Or does it always smell that good in here?"

Still holding on to Jenny, his head swivels around. "Oh, there's more company! Hello, yes, I'm the Doctor. Or, rather, I'm one of him. And you are? Hold on a tic, did you just call someone Dad? Who are YOU talking to?"

"D'you really think Ianto's got a daughter older than him running around? And what do you mean, one of the Doctor? Kind of implies singular, doesn't it?"

Confusing as that may be, her father's not jumping in to say this isn't the Doctor he's talked about, so whatever this one-of-him is, apparently he still counts as the Doctor. Never thought she'd meet him. She certainly has some things to say to him.

"Guess I owe you some thanks for saving the universe."

"...you brilliant girl!"

Jenny grins at him before he wraps her in his arms again, "I did! It took some time, but I came back. Is that what you do? What we do? ...Can we not die?" And then she pauses, a bit confused, "And what do you mean it's not a full regeneration because I look exactly the same? Am I supposed to look different?"

She's already realized that Jack is Alice's father. She wonders how it's possible, if there was a machine involved like with her own birth, but she doesn't say anything. She does, however, react when her father says that he is one of the Doctors, "Yes, what do you mean?" She takes a moment to think, "...You feel different. When I was around you before, I got this...feeling from you. It's different now. Not as strong..."

"Well, we can die. Especially me. But, we, I mean you and him, there's this Time Lord way of cheating death...regenerating. Can't do it forever. And has to happen in time..." he's disentangled himself enough to scratch his head. "Usually it means you change...every cell. I'm...glad you didn't, though." He flashes another large grin.

He looks from Alice to Jack to Alice again. "Oh. OH, that's just brilliant! Pleasure to meet you! Oh, don't thank us, we just do what we can..."

He pauses and looks at Jenny again. "Welll, you see, I AM different. Part human, now. I was dying, regenerating, but I didn't want to...sent the energy off into a spare hand of mine, then Donna touched it and..." he grows quiet, eyes dropping. "...here I am. Also the Doctor. The other me, the full Time Lord, he'll be by here soon, I'm sure."

Regeneration? That sounds vaguely familiar, something her father talked about... Ah, that's it. Something to do with the Doctor having been different when they met. She thought that was changing form, though, not like a new one sprouting up. Does that mean the one her father met is still running around? But the Doctor and Jenny are making it sound like yes, it's to do with their own form, so what's this talk of another him?

The Doctor's explanation to Jenny-- although it's huh? in the area of hands and how the hell that'd work-- does clarify that there's two of him.

"You aren't the original one, then? I mean, you're some sort of copy of... yourself, except not identical because you're part-human?" She furrows her brow. "Were you around for that universe-saving, then, or just have some sort of copy of the memories of doing it?"

The Doctor looks distinctly uncomfortable, and a tad frustrated, having had to try to explain this too many times and still never quite having a satisfactory answer. "Welllll, not the original as such, except, yes, I am, same me, my hand and all, and of course I have the same memories, cause it's me, I was there..." he stutters a moment. "I'm not just a copy."

Rose bounds down the steps from the second floor, a pleased little smile on her face. As she bounces off the last step without looking at the group or noticing the air of confusion; "Your right Jack, it's a lovely green house! And do I smell more of Ianto's amazing coffee?"

Waiting a second before realizing that no one has responded to her, she turns her head up to the group of people in front of her. The group is significantly larger than she expected and something catches her eye.

Her mouth drops open as she sees the Doctor's arm around some cute blonde. And not the other Doctor (which would still be shocking) but HER DOCTOR! Striding over rather oddly, she stands at the edge of the group, "Errr...hello?"

A look of shock and confusion spread across her face, she tilts her head a bit to the side, "Who is this, Doctor? And why do you have your arm around her?"

She flops her head to the side, flicking her hair in the process, as she looks over at Jack and Ianto hoping for some clue as to whats going on. As she does this she sees another woman standing off to the side, and feels even more confused.

The Doctor's head snaps up and turns toward Rose, his grin, if possible, getting bigger. "Oi, there you are, Rose! You'll never, ever guess!" He's holding Jenny's hand now, tugging her toward Rose slightly. "I certainly wouldn't have, after all, she was dead! Another impossible thing that isn't! It's just so absolutely wizard, isn't it?" He pauses for breath. "Oh, right, Jenny, meet Rose, my future wife. Rose, meet Jenny. My daughter." He stands between them, just beaming.

Jenny's head is spinning. She usually enjoys the adventures of life, the idea that she never knows what's going to occur next, but this is a bit much for anyone to take in.

"So you're...my dad, but you're not completely a Time Lord? ...You can die. And the Doctor who's completely a Time Lord...if he dies, he won't look the same anymore? He'll change?" She pauses after he mentions Donna, knowing the look on his face isn't a good one, "Dad, where is she? Where's Donna?"

She then listens as her dad explains that he's not a copy. She understands his frustration. It's hard to explain to people just who you are when you're so different. She was often considered an anomaly, a birthless creature who didn't have any parents. Not real. It frustrates her because she is very real. She's an independent being with an amazing father. Two amazing fathers, now. Jenny softly says, a small smile on her face, "No, you're not. You're you. And I'm the luckiest girl in the world because I have two brilliant dads."

Just then, a blond woman enters the room and she looks none too happy. It's not until her father introduces the woman as Rose, his future wife, that she understands. Jenny releases her hand from her father's and runs to Rose, wrapping her arms around her, "It's so nice to meet you!"

Well, this is getting a bit....crowded. And complicated. He can smell that the coffee is done, so unwraps his arms from around Jack and heads over to the coffee station, pouring out mugs for everyone, then carrying a tray around.

Although Rose looks to him, it's really for the Doctor to explain, not him. He does feel sorry for all that's getting dropped on her, though. It's a lot to take in. He can only hope Rose already knew about Jenny.

He grabs the coffee as a lifeline and gives Ianto a grateful look. "Thank you. Very good timing."

"Yes, Jenny, that's it!" His smile falters again at the mention of Donna, but he covers quickly. "She's home, with her family! Living life! Perfectly fine!" He says this with a smile, but it doesn't quite reach his eyes.

He gives her a soft smile back. "Yes. I'm me, and you're you. Thank you."

He chuckles as Jenny tackles Rose and hugs her, as Rose's eyes just go bigger. "You remember, Rose? I told you about Jenny! Well, I told you I had an engineered child who died, I suppose...maybe not so very many details..."

As Ianto makes the coffee rounds, he happily takes a cup. "Thank you, Mr. Jones, always perfect timing!"

Trying to steady her balance after being tackled by the blond, she looks back at Jack and realizes from the look on his face that he is going to be no help here.

She hugs Jenny lightly, still completely confused.

Looking over her shoulder at the Doctor, "uh...But...Umm...Doctor you never said...." gesturing her head at the rather beautiful girl.

As they separate, Rose puts on her best. "Eh, Sorry, just caught off guard. Im used to seeing women looking at the Doctor, just not used to him looking back! Its nice to meet you....." Rose lets the sentence trail off unsure exactly what is going on.

Again she looks past Jack and notices the women standing in the background trying not to be noticed. Turning just a bit away from Jenny, her new step daughter???, (though keeping an eye on her) she waves at the women. "Hello there, I'm Rose. Though guess that's already been said. Nice to meet you too."

Not expecting to be addressed, Alice is at first unsure how to respond-- but it does make sense, maybe look out for someone else who's just as much trying to go along with all this.

"Hi. I'm Alice. You're Rose...?"

She looks over to her father-- he's talked plenty about a Rose before, though leaving her with the impression that he was never going to see her again. From the look he gives back, though, this is her.

"You're really Rose?"

Jenny knows there's more to the story about Donna than her dad is telling her. She also knows, by the look on his face, that it's something he has a hard time talking about. So, she let's it go for the moment. She'll ask him again later, when they can talk in private.

After she hugs Rose, she continues to grin, all sorts of questions and comments already flooding her mind, "It's all right. I know it can be a lot to take in. We're not exactly the most traditional family, or so I've been told. Oh, I can't wait to learn more about you! How you met my father, how you fell in love. And do you know my other dad as well?" She forces herself to slow down; only so many questions can be answered at a time.

The Doctor blinks at Ianto a moment, then laughs, setting his mug down. "Right you are, Ianto! Less confusion would probably be good. Though I didn't think to prepare a slide presentation...didn't know I'd need it! But it would likely come in handy right now. Something with charts. Who is connected to who and from where and when and how..." He slides next to Rose and curls his hand reassuringly around hers, before reaching the other hand toward Jenny, and nodding at Jack and his daughter. "Shall we?"

Trust Ianto to come up with the genius, sensible idea. Jack loves that.

Jenny happily takes her dad's hand, ready to go off to the boardroom so that they can all talk, when she suddenly stops. "Wait...about my other dad. ...Is he here? Does he know about me, that I'm back?" She feels the odd worry start to bubble up again. They can't miss each other, not after all of this. Not after she's ended up here, of all places.

The Doctor is busy watching Rose's face, as she still looks lost and confused by all of this, worrying her bottom lip in her teeth. He gently turns Jenny and Rose toward the boardroom. "Go on, I'll catch up." He turns to face Jack and Ianto. "Can we call him? Well, I say we, I mean you. He should be here. It's...I mean, it would be better for him. She's his daughter. I mean, yes, she's mine too, but he needs her more. And she needs him."

As the Doctor holds back to talk to Jack and Ianto, Rose unwillingly lets him pull his hand out of her grip. While the shock of meeting this beautiful woman next to her is fading, she still would like the comfort of his hand in hers.

Feeling rather guilty for the rude reception she offered to both women earlier she forces her best smile and tries to lighten up her body language, shaking off the shock. Looking next to her and realizing that Jenny is there and that her hand is also free she slides her arm around Jenny's and waits for Alice to catch up to them, trying to be extra nice.
