WHO: Tessa Austin [The Dish] and Harrison Tweed [Tweedledum].
WHERE: The Walrus & The Carpenter.
WHAT: A chat over coffee and cakes.
WHEN: Monday evening.
RATING: No higher than PG, I think.
Harrison stood behind the bar, busying himself with scrubbing and re-scrubbing a spot on the wooden counter. He knew that Tessa wanted to have a chat with him - it had been quite a while - and he wanted to look like he wasn't just standing there waiting for her. Especially because his customers would probably wonder about his work ethic. Ever since The New Yorker had written that article about his restaurant, people had been visiting at all hours, and everyone seemed to want to talk to him. It was exciting, but it was also maddeningly overwhelming at times.
It would be nice to chat with a friend.
He looked down and noticed that a piece of the wood panelling on the bar had chipped off from his incessant scrubbing. Oops, he thought. I wonder if anyone knew this was just covered with wood. Maybe a metal bar would look cooler anyway. He moved on to wiping a beer glass down with a dishrag, doing his best 'tough bartender' impression with a smile just barely hidden behind it. He loved getting paid to act this silly.
