Who: Tony, Pepper and baby Matt
What: Putting up Christmas decorations and stuff

Pepper had been lucky. Her parents had decided they needed to go off for a weekend just by themselves to see if they could patch things up. It meant that Pepper was going to have to watch her baby brother Matt the entire time but she didn't mind mostly for one reason. She'd called Tony later on, telling him that her parents were leaving, and he suggested that they both stay the weekend with him. That was music to her ears.

After the week was up, her parents packed up their things and kissed their children goodbye and headed off into the sunset. She waited an hour before she called Tony to tell him they were coming over. She got Matt's things all together for the weekend and her own and then put him into the car and drove over to Tony's.

Well she certainly didn't want him to have to talk about it either. So she just nodded and continued to string the lights all around the tree, making sure they were spaced apart. Matthew seemed to be ignoring things though except for presents. "I hopes so I loves Santa I gonna make him lotsa cookies." He was obviously really excited about that part.

Her shoulders shrugged a bit at Tony and she smiled. "Well this isn't technology, it's just untangling things. Who do you thing has to get his hair out of knots when he goes and gets it stuck on a lollipop or something."

"You don't have to string them up, I'll do it." He'd even gone out to buy loads of ornaments. He didn't know what kind he wanted or they would want, so he filled the cart so they all could choose what they wanted for decorating. "Maybe I can get Santa to stop by here, too, and leave you a present or two. You know Santa's a personal friend of mine." Telling Matt something like that would probably make him happy and make the kid crawl all over him, not that he didn't do that as it were. Tony had him hoisted up high on his hip. "So you're going to stay with me this weekend? Guess this means a playground trip and other fun stuff."

Then Tony stuck his tongue out at Pepper, "It's still a string of wired lights. It's not that hard to untangle them. Well, it shouldn't be."

"If you want to help you have to either use him to help me or put him down I think," she watched the two of them and smiled a bit. They were very cute. In lots of ways she wished that Tony was his father even though that was just a little more then weird and would make the whole thing with them weird and.. semi related. Matt grinned at Tony, "Really? Santa come too places I get two pressies?" he looked very excited for that.

"Uh huh we's gonna stay the whole weekend." That was the best thing ever. He really liked staying there. Just maybe not as much as Pepper. "Can we play playstation?" He couldn't say pepper but he could say playstation.

Pepper grinned, "Looks like it though." She was just about done putting the lights up and then plugged them in again. "Ta-da."

Tony kind of frowned because he didn't really want to put Matt down, but he supposed he'd have to to help Pepper. "Okay, okay," he said and reluctantly put Matt down on his feet. Then he crouched down to his level. "Mhmm, You might get more than two here. We'll see. I'll talk to Santa. He owes me a favor or two." And Tony winked at Pepper because she knew Tony was just talking up this whole thing to Matt.

"Let's go get your playstation on so you can play and I can help your sister with the tree, okay?" And he stood up and ushered Matt over to the plasma screen television. Tony went about switching over the AV connections and messed around with everything and put the controller in Matt's hands and popped in the Kung Fu Panda game for him. He figured he'd like playing that at least.

"We're going to be over here, okay buddy?" and the little boy nodded his head and started his game up.

It was cute the way he was frowning because he didn't want to put Matthew down. Very cute. Matt just looked super excited, "More then two??!" yeah he was a little excited about Christmas for real. Pepper smiled at him and winked back. Matt took the controller and began to play totally oblivious to his sister and Tony's whereabouts and anything else. He was totally ignoring them for Panda. "Uh huh.." was all he muttered.

Since she'd got the lights up, she went to go find the rest of the decorations. "What did you buy? Cheesy ornaments and lots of balls?" she teased, sticking out her tongue a little.

He just shook his head at Matthew, laughing to himself as he walked over to where Pepper and the tree were. "No, smartass. When have I ever bought something cheap and cheesy?" He went and grabbed several bags from various stores. Inside were all kinds of ornaments from one of every kind that Hallmark carried to ones with cartoon characters and glass ones. "I tried to get stuff Matt would like," he said and pulled out a box from Hallmark. Inside was a little Phantom of the Opera with Christine in his gondola that played "Music of the Night" and moved. "Huh. That's cool, see?" and held it out to her to hang on the tree. "See? Not crap."

"I said nothing about cheap. I just said cheesy. Cheap never, but cheesy? More then once." she just grinned at him because she liked teasing him. There were some pretty nice ones in there. He did have good taste which was always a little surprising. "Those are cute.. oh I like that one.." she smiled and took the ornament from him. She wound it up so it started to play and put it at the center of the tree so that she could turn it on but Matthew wouldn't break it. "I take it back..not crap.." she kissed his cheek again. "So.. I was thinking.." Always dangerous.

The corner of his mouth quirked in a smirk as she took the ornament from him and hung it up. He'd settled down on the floor by the tree and pulled out the ornaments, opening them up and inspecting them to see what all he'd actually bought. There were different musical ones like the Phantom one with Wizard of Oz and Christmas scenes, glass balls with cartoons painted on them like Scooby Doo and such. Little race cars for Matt and the like. He smiled when she kissed his cheek then grabbed her by the waist and pulled her down in his lap for a hug. "So..you were thinking..." and he buried his face against her neck to snuggle her.

Being pulled down into Tony's lap, she put her arms around him and hugged him tightly, laying her head down on his shoulder. She'd missed him quite a lot recently. "Well.. you can't tell Matthew of course but what he secretly wants.. is a puppy. I think he.. he's lonely. I'm gone all day.. it's either just him and mom or him and dad. They're dead set against it but.. maybe.. if santa brought him a puppy.. here.. I know it's asking a lot. I just don't want him to be.." she looked up at him. "You're a better father to him then my dad would ever be. I don't want him to be alone." Not like she had been.

"A puppy? Hmm," he said, hugging her tightly in return, his lips moving back and forth in thought. "I could get him a puppy. I'm home most of the time, and when I'm not there's the maid who comes by, she could feed him." Tony really felt bad for their situation, and when she said he was a better father, he blushed, his eyes not quite meeting hers anymore. No one had ever referred to him in that capacity. If anything, they've said he was a big child. "He'll always have me. He's not going to be alone. Neither of you ever have to worry about it again." And he brushed a few strands of hair back from her face and kissed her forehead.

"He doesn't want to tell anyone.. not even Santa. After they said no it kind of well I mean of course it upset him." She really didn't like when her brother was upset. Though her parents meant well she supposed, she just wanted to protect him from all the crap that she had gone through before he was born and since then too. He was blushing which was cute and she smiled. "I know.. we're both very lucky." she closed her eyes and hugged him. "I know he's too young to really look after a puppy by himself of course.. so really it'd be like.. ours in a way. The three of us."

Poor little guy. Tony glanced behind Pepper to see Matt happily playing the video game, completely engrossed in whatever was on the screen and it broke his heart to think about his parents treating him like that. Tony was lucky to have no had to deal with that growing up. He was glad Pepper and Matthew had each other. "The pitter patter of little feet around here...would do the house some good to have a puppy around. Provided it doesn't eat anything important. Sure," he said with a sigh, "I'll get him a puppy."

Pepper stole a glance at Matthew too, putting her chin down on his shoulder and ran her fingers through the back of his hair. She thought that he maybe wanted kids, but did he want them with her? Of course she was young and they had time for all of that. But she still was curious. "Yeah? I didn't mean to like.. make you do it or anything. I just know that would mean more to him then any of the toys. Only if you're really sure. It's a lot of responsibility. Though it would mean I'd come over more maybe."

He had a tendency to purr when she ran her fingers through his hair like that, which he did as he leaned into her more, smiling at the feel of her fingers. Tony hadn't thought too much about children before he'd met Matt, and he'd fallen instantly in love with him and wanted to protect him. And he'd found himself very attached to Pepper, even falling for her in a way he shouldn't have, but he was happy, they both were, and that was what mattered to him. Maybe someday he'd approach her about children, if they lasted that long and she didn't get tired of him. "You're not making me. You know I would do anything for him, and if that's what he wants, that's what Santa will get him." And he smiled. "Speaking of...what do you want "Santa" to bring you for Christmas this year?" and he leaned in and nuzzled her neck.

He reminded her of a giant cat when he made that noise against her neck. It made her giggle and squirm because his voice kind of vibrated and tickled her neck. "Thank you. I know its going to mean a lot to him. Maybe we should let him name him too. I could come puppy shopping with you. That might be fun. Find one that's suitable for a kid his age." Pepper didn't think shed ever want to get rid of him or get tired of him for that matter. "To bring me? Oh I don't need anything. I have everything I could possibly want right here."

"Next week, we can go shopping for him," he said low so Matt wouldn't overhear them. He felt her squirm slightly and it made him smile against her skin as he kissed it gently. He missed just having these moments with her where they could just be together. "I didn't ask if you needed anything. I asked what you wanted. I'm sure there's something you really really want." Though he did like that answer she'd given. He was really looking forward to spending Christmas with her this year. Stretched out on the couch in front of the fireplace, just enjoying themselves.

"Sounds good.." she kind of nuzzled up against him. "I missed you," she whispered in his ear, rubbing up against him a bit like a kitty rubbing their head up against someone to get attention. "Mm I think everything I want I don't really want to wait until Christmas for.." she said a bit naughtily, biting on her bottom lip. Honestly though she couldn't think of anything she wanted. "Really though I don't know. I guess when we go out.. I'll look around and see if anything catches my eye."

"I missed you, too," he said, sighing as she rubbed against him, his grip on her tightening. Though his ears perked and turned a little red at her suggestive tone. He lifted his head to see her biting on her bottom lip, and it made Tony lick his lips unconsciously. "Later, I promise. After we get him into bed for the night. We have a tree to finish decorating." But god, she was going to make it hard for him to concentrate. "One day, you're going to leave home and not have a car of your own. What about that? Or one we can fix up together?"

	That's why she was going to behave. Honestly. But she couldn't help but be a little turned on by the way he was licking his lips and obviously thinking about her. "Yeah we do. But I can't wait for tonight." she kissed his neck a little bit actually wasn't squirming in his lap. See? Being good. "A car? I.. but wouldn't they know somehow? Or.. something like that." "Neither can I. It's been a little while since the last time and I've been waiting for you." Which meant he'd somehow kept his hands off himself since their last time. "We'll get one and work on it together. It'll be ready by the time you graduate and then it won't matter." And he wouldn't touch it without her and be tempted to fix it up for her in record time. "Then you can pick out interior, paint job, all of that stuff. Consider it as a long term graduation gift slash Christmas gift. They'll never see it until afterward." He picked up an unboxed ornament and let it dangle from his fingertips. "Let's get this done. The sooner we do, the more time we have for us."

Her eyebrows went up a bit in surprise. "Really? You haven't? I'm impressed." And she wasn't going to tell if she had kept her hands off of herself either. "You're just going to get me a car? You're.. spoiling me.." first the computer and now this. "But I do like the idea of fixing it together even though I know nothing about cars. I guess if you get me it for Christmas I won't have much of a choice.."

She grabbed the ornament and then lifted off his lap so that they could actually decorate the tree and put the ornaments on instead of nuzzling and cuddling each other.

He snorted, "Yeah, well, it's been a tough time, but I managed with a little willpower..." and running himself into the ground that he was so tired he fell right to sleep and never thought about it. "Never know what Santa might leave under the tree for you. And I don't mind spoiling you. I like the look on your face when I give you something unexpectedly."

He stood up and picked up a couple of ornaments and stepped around the tree, placing them on it, then stepping back to make sure it looked okay. It'd drive him nuts if it didn't look right.

"Well I promise that this weekend will more then make up for it." She didn't want to find out about him running himself ragged. Of course she wouldn't want him to do that. "You're the only one that is allowed to do so." And she was getting better at actually accepting gifts and telling him not to take them back. Slowly but surely anyway.

Letting him fuss with the tree, she tried not to move things around just to drive him a little crazy. She glanced over at Matt who hadn't paused the game but apparently was half asleep because he was up against the couch and the guy on the screen wasn't moving. "I think someone's passed out."

Tony was just about to put another ornament on the tree when he looked over to see the little fellow almost completely out cold by the couch. He chuckled and hung the ornament then walked over to where Matt was. He crouched and turned off the game, then took the controller out of Matt's hand and set it aside before gathering the little boy in his arms. Matt woke up just a little bit and yawned, then grabbed onto Tony, his hand fisting in his shirt. "Ready to go to bed? You can play Panda tomorrow some more."

He nudged the stuff to the side with his foot and walked over to Pepper. "Tell her goodnight and Iron Man will take you upstairs and tuck you in," and to that, Matt smiled and buried his face against Tony.

It was amazing because at home Matt never wanted to go to bed, especially not for his parents. But he had spent the night often now at Tony's, and he liked it there. Plus he wasn't in any position to say no since he was mostly asleep anyway. She grinned down at her brother and kissed his forehead. "Night little man.. sweet dreams. I'll be here when you wake up."

"Night night Peppy.." he said sleepily and let Tony carry him up to bed. While they were gone, she went and finished up on the tree until all the ornaments were up. Now they just had to put on the star. After she found it, she went to find something to climb on to put it on the top.
