Thread: The Lesson Ain't Over
WHO: Alex Jiang & Barclay Grisholt
WHEN: April 25, late Saturday evening [backdated]
WHERE: Outside on school grounds
Alex wasn't blind. He knew that Barclay seemed to be watching him, and maybe he was paranoid, but he'd pretty much nearly killed Barclay's boyfriend. Alex knew retribution was coming, but it was all about when not if. If he could share his opinion, he would say he was dealing with enough already. Menides already gave him a number of death glares, but she wasn't going to really do anything. She knew that the threat of expulsion and the damage to his own spirit were enough to cow the snarky Californian who got himself into a lot of trouble. But he knew Barclay wouldn't listen, nor would he care. Hydra were selfish, in Alex's opinion, and being a selfish little twat himself, he could see it. Sure, they walked around acting all high and mighty, but in the end they wanted to satisfy their own pride and wouldn't listen to anyone until it was properly stroked or avenged. When he saw Leon's post about Barclay going out of town with him though, Alex breathed a little easier. A lot of kids weren't talking to him, sure, but it gave him a reprieve of about a day to take a break and not be constantly looking over his shoulder. So as evening descended upon St. Margaret's, Alex was still outside and trying to find this one spot he'd been to before where he'd felt a sort of strength before. He couldn't seem to pinpoint it this time, which was kind of annoying, but he'd find it eventually. Evening drew late and Alex decided to continue his search the next day. So he started back toward the school, intent on getting some sleep. But something felt wrong. Alex felt like someone was watching him. Some thing maybe? It was hard to say, but the hairs on the back of his neck rose. He quickened his step and turned off the music in his ear buds, adjusting them so they hung loosely onto his ears, and he could hear better. Not perfectly, but definitely an improvement over having music blasting in his ears. The quiet of the forest was disturbing and Alex reminded himself of how much he hated nature. Especially here on the other coast where the humidity could sit like a great weight on his shoulders and over his head. Sometimes this hair frizzed too and that was especially irritating. But his hair was the last thing he was thinking about, because he was pretty sure someone was following him. He hurried back toward the school to shake that feeling off within the comfort of his own dorm. |
