Maryanne had stopped by a Mom and Pop bakery for a few pastries to take home for thanksgiving, and a pie. And for a few Beignets for Hannibal. Not that she expected him to have a snobby palate, but she knew it would be a little more refined than the grains and vegetarian based foods the Coffee chain carried in their case. She didn't dress to fit the temperature, she didn't feel the cold the way others did. She wore a simple black dress, though she had brought along a jacket for simple pretences. It hung from the back of her seat. A warm cup of hot cocoa set between her hands. Mary had no idea what Hannibal wanted with her. Why he wanted to talk, and what was so important that it had to be done in person. But she didn't want to be rude and turn him down. And she didn't exactly fear him. And there was no harm in sitting and having a hot drink with someone. |
