Who? Rob & Uhura
Where? Trinidad, a club?
When? Tonight's the night!
What? Dancing.
Rating? Mediumish
Open? No

Rob hadn't been lying when he'd said he would have no idea what he was doing, but he'd seen quite a bit of the dancing at the carnival, and it did all seem like such good fun. He was no stranger to a dance, and he had rhythm, so he wasn't an absolutely lost cause. Only his traditional Scottish dancing was nothing like this... the whole of Trinidad just made him walk about with wide eyes, gaping and gasping at everything that happened. He was afraid that he was just revealing how much of a country bumpkin he really was, but then it wasn't as if Uhura didn't know how sheltered a life he'd really led in many respects. And she seemed to think it was cute, so that was a definite bonus.

He was so used to working from the crack of dawn until sunset, and sometimes beyond that if the situation called for it, so really this was the first holiday he had taken since... since ever, in fact. He'd had tasks on the land since he was old enough to walk, and it was strange, learning to relax, learning to rest and do things just...because it was enjoyable. And to not feel shame about that, to not feel guilty. But he was learning, and it seemed so much easier when he had Uhura with him, smiling at him, moving with him.

"You're just full of surprises," he smiled, moving with her, and giving her a curious look at the mention of her parents. "Hmm, you know, I think that's the first time you've said something about your family."

"Is it really? My mother was a starship captain...first woman ever, my father taught languages at the Academy. I was born in Northern Kenya, but we left before I turned 2." Uhura replied

"The first?" Rob repeated with some definite admiration. "I see where you get your tenacity from. A little of both of them in you," he smiled.

"Aye, so you should be. Quite an achievement," he nodded.

"I wonder what I'm gonna be?" Uhura began to move to the music.

"Ah, you're already plenty, lass," he told her, and he really did mean it. "You want to be first at something?" he asked, moving with her.

"I suppose I am, first Uhura to date a guy from a different century." Uhura smiled

"Well, I'm glad I could help!" he smiled. "I feel like the first to do plenty. First to send a text message," he grinned.

"I'm proud of how well you're doing." Uhura moved into his arms picking the pace up.
