Who: Artie and Old Steve
Where: Steve’s apartment
What: Sheild work
When: Now
Rating: TBD
Open: To Stark Tower residents and Claudia

Artie had bundled up tight to go to Stark Tower. He’d done his research and knew who lived there, people that Claudia got over excited about. People that Artie knew where highly likely to underestimate a little, fat, hairy old man. Just the way he liked it. He moved indoors quickly, aiming to get out of the fog as soon as he could and knowing that the towers computer JARVIS knew he was on the way and was therefore far less likely to fry him.

Steve didn't like Artie going out into the fog but it was best that he stay out of it. He could still hear the whispers, even after being inside for a couple of days.

"Mr Nielsen is on his way up, sir." The AI announced.

"Thanks, Jarvis." Steve went to the door and opened it, standing there so Artie could find him more easily.

Artie eyed the supposed superhero as he hit the top of the stairs, large, slightly pouty, about to be expected of the ones that were noisy about saving the world. Mika would probably have floored him.

"Good afternoon."

"Afternoon." Steve nodded and stepped aside so Artie could enter. "Would you like something to drink?" He'd seen the show, thanks to Isabel. He knew bether than to underestimate anyone.

"A coffee would be good." Artie cast his eyes around the room, looking for anything else that might constitute an artifact. He put his bag down on the coffee table, but didn't take off his coat.

"Coffee it is." He smiled and nodded. "Make yourself comfortable." He then headed into the kitchen. When he got the coffee brewing, he stepped back into the living room. "I have my uniform too, if you want to take a look at it."

"Why not, it should all be imbibed...you'll have to forgive me for not being too enthused with you...Jews and world war two." Artie replied

Steve just nodded, rather than making a snarky comment. Even though he'd been fighting against Hitler, he was still associated with the war and a lot of people didn't like that. "I learned a long time ago that not everybody is going to like me." He shrugged. He went into the bedroom and came back out a few moments later. He had the shield in one hand and his uniform over his other arm. It was the one he'd worn in New York. He set everything on the couch next to Artie.

"I'll go check on the coffee."

"We were Russian rather than American, so we weren't in your remit." Artie murmured, beginning to unpack the leather bag he carried everywhere. The shield almost vibrated with the hopes of a nation.

Steve came back with two mugs on a tray along with some cream and sugar. He set the tray on the coffee table before taking a seat in the arm chair across from the couch. "Wasn't sure how you take it..."

"Black, thank you...The hope people put into this thing, into you, is incredible." Artie said softly

"That's not why I did it." He filled Artie's cup and pushed it closer to him. "I never meant to become this....symbol."

"Short answer? I don't like bullies." He shrugged. Steve added some sugar to his coffee before sitting back and sipping it.

Steve just nodded and sipped his coffee again. "If Erskine hadn't been killed, no one would no who I was. I would have been part of an army of super soldiers. Not just me." He cleared his throat. "And if Bucky hadn't gotten captured, I never would have broken from the stupid war bonds tour. That shield only exists because someone I care about died and someone else I care about was tortured."

"A lot of artifacts begin life that way. Some of them..." Artie replied. "...but in spite of its origins, this, dangerous yes, but not in the way most would think."

Steve furrowed his brow. "How is it dangerous?" He knew how it could be dangerous when used as a weapon but he wondered if there was some other way.

Steve shook his head. "Not really, no." It could have been somewhere in the back of his mind and he just didn't remember.

"Good point." He nodded before sipping his coffee. "So, you're saying that my shield could cause damage beyond the obvious if put in the wrong hands." It wasn't a question.

He nodded again. "Guess it's a good thing I keep it put away." He wondered about what the damage would be but kept that to himself.
