Sidetracked by their little excursion to some jungle, the promised shopping trip escaped Elijah's mind in favor of other thoughts in keeping those he cared for safe and sound from harm. Now, after a few days of being back-despite a wicked hurricane-Elijah finally remembered what he had promised his sister and like the good brother he was, he fully intended on holding up his end of the bargain. Putting on his normal attire-expensive suit and dress coat with cuff links included-the vampire slipped his wallet and phone into his back pocket and headed out for his sister's place. Much like Elena, she was really only a stone's throw away from where he lived and it was a short walk there for the vampire. Besides, he preferred walking to driving. It allowed him time to think and clear his head of whatever thoughts were currently flooding it. Right now, most of those involved Miss. Gilbert and a proposition he had been playing with for some time now since their magical night together.
He was thinking of asking her to move in with him or, if possible, they could find another place for just the two of them. Increasingly, the Original vampire found himself wanting her presence more and more. Her laugh was so perfect and that smile could always bring out his own awkward half-grin to his face. He wished, selfishly perhaps, to hear them all the time and to have the young vampire by his side at all hours of the day. Elijah knew she had friends here and of course he wouldn't ever take her away from her precious witch and the blond vampire, Caroline nor Damon or anyone else she was currently growing close to. He wanted her to be happy always and he would never cage her. She would be free to do what she wished anytime she wanted to do it. He loved her and trusted her beyond a measure of a doubt despite his sister's insistent claims that she would break his heart and leave him in much the same matter as Katerina had-broken and cold. He truly believed Elena was different. She was compassionate where Katerina wasn't and she fought for her humanity when Katerina had long ago sacrificed her own under the weight of her parents' death.
Letting himself into the apartment building, Bekah's big brother took the stairs and easily arrived outside his sister's door in seconds. One of his biggest regrets was all the pain his only sister had to face in this lifetime. It seemed every time she let her guard down, she was rewarded with a dagger in the back or a broken heart. He knew that when she ran Matt's truck off the road, she truly believed she had done the right thing somehow. Niklaus was dead and in Rebekah's eyes, it was Elena's fault for it all, but especially for being the one thing Klaus did die for. Of course, Klaus had a back-up plan and didn't die. On top of that, he daggered Bekah again! Elijah planned on setting his brother straight after this. In fact, after spending time with Bekah, he was going to reach out to Niklaus and see if he could bring some remnants of peace to his family.
Removing one hand from his pocket, the original vampire knocked boldly on the door and waited for his sister or whoever she happened to sharing place with to open it. Despite the most recent events of hostility, he was hoping no one would be greeting him with weaponry. He didn't really want bullet holes in his newest suit.
