Who: Darcy and Bruce and Everyone
What: Wedding!
Where: The park
When: Forward-dated to Friday, Feb. 14, mid-afternoon
Rating: variable depending on who's threading
Status: Open/Ongoing/Multiple threads encouraged

The wedding is casual but elegant and starts in the late afternoon, just about the same time a light snow flurry begins to fall, and is set up in the largest section of the park in two parts.

The first hosts the ceremony, outdoors, under one of the largest trees, with the altar set up among the branches in the same place Bruce found Jacob his first day on the island. Darcy as made sure there are plenty of blankets available for people to grab in case they start to get cold. The ceremony is short but sweet with Jacob as Bruce’s best man, Bucky as Darcy’s ‘Dude of Honor’, the five-year-old versions of Steve and Bucky escorting her down the aisle and Tony officiating. [Ceremony will be threaded below for more details]

The second area is under a large, see-through tent with wooden dance floor underneath to make sure everyone can move around easily. The tent is well heated with heaters that Izzy has fitted to make sure they give off no fumes, as well as a fireplace to one side with a chimney directing smoke direct out of the tent. Other than Darcy’s bouquet there are no flowers, instead the tables are all decorated with slices of old logs, twigs, pine cones, ferns and moss along with plenty of unscented candles along long, family-style tables with no seating chart. The ceiling was intricately decorated as well to add some extra lighting. And if anyone looked carefully they’d see all of the candle holders, light glasses at the reception and even the base of Darcy’s bouquet were all made from scientific glassware, mostly beakers and flasks, that she’d scrounged from Tony’s R+D departments to surprise Bruce.

The food is all comfort food made by Maryanne and served buffet style, including mostly soups and stews, gumbo, lots of potato dishes, roast meats and veggies and curries, as well as plenty of food for kids (and picky adults)-things like chicken fingers, plain mashed potatoes and gravy, grilled cheese, and pasta. The cake made by Sookie sits on a separate table surrounded by little personal pies made by Isabel, in case someone doesn’t like cake or wants dessert early. There would also be a make-your-own s’mores table near the fireplace and plenty of drinks around, including coffee, hot chocolate and hot spiced cider, all three available spiked for those so inclined, on top of the usual choices.

By halfway through the reception Darcy has bustled up her dress up to about her knees to keep it out of the way (revealing her shoes as well) and once everyone seemed done with the food, for their first course at least, they would have cut the cake (Darcy giving all the sugar flowers to the kids first and mushing the first bite in Bruce’s face) and done all of the other ‘traditional’ wedding things that they could stand. Bruce is wearing a suit and tie to his wedding, though halfway through the reception, his tie is loosened from Darcy tugging on it. Once things start to wind down Bruce and Darcy would head off in Maryanne’s monster truck so Darcy can surprise him with a week-long honeymoon in Rivendell, leaving the set up for anyone else to use until the end of that week.

Bucky wasn't sure why, but that made him unbelievably happy. Maybe it was because eventually she would be part of his family. And as family he wanted her to witness something monumentous. Or something that was pretty damn important to him. "Thank you. I know once she stops being so stubborn about the whole thing, she'll be thankful that you were here for it too."

Slowly he stood. "But right now, to pass time so Darcy won't want to kill me, will you do me the honor of this dance? If you're feeling up to it, that is." If she wasn't, he wouldn't push.

Izzy laughed outright at his comment about Darcy. "Yes, it's very bad manners to upstage the bride on her wedding day. Very smart move on your part to wait for later."

She glanced around for Tom but he seemed to have disappeared. Story of her life lately. "Considering my normal dancing partner has vanished I suppose you'll do." A small smile accompanied the remark as she stood, hopefully he'd take it as intended. "I think I can handle a dance or two."

"Only till he returns, then. I'm sure he'll cut in, and want to sock me on the jaw." Bucky twinkled a smile at her. "But I figure it would teach him a lesson about leaving one of the prettiest dames in this place sitting at a table by herself." He really couldn't help himself. A little harmless flirting helped ease his nerves anyway. He turned to it the way some turned to booze or a smoke.

"And I promise not to step on your toes." He held his hand out to her, ready to offer proper stance for a ballroom partner.

"Considering I'm starting to lose sight of them I think we'll probably be all right in that department." Izzy joked. She had to admit, he was a true charmer. Having it applied to her firsthand was a very different thing than seeing it over the network.

She took the offered hand and allowed him to lead her out onto the dance floor. "I'm not super familiar with formal dances so you'll have to help me out."

Bucky gave her a brief nod. "I've had lessons, so I'll go easy. And if you want once the girls are born I can teach you. Or some are low impact so if you want to before they're born I can show you. I used to do that for the girls that would get brought to the Convent, before me and Steve left, to help boost their self esteem." He never understood how families could just drop a girl off because she was pregnant.

He settled his hand on the curve of her back, "Just follow my lead, and don't worry about my toes. They don't mind being stepped on." He teased just a little.

"Fair enough." Izzy laughed and shook her head. "We'll see if you still feel that way afterward."

"Doll, I've had bigger women stomp on my toes intentionally. You have to be the tiniest expectant mother that I've danced with so far." It was only partially true. But she didn't have to know that, there was no harm in stroking her ego as Bucky lead her into the slow steps of an easy waltz.
