Who: Darcy and Bruce and Everyone
What: Wedding!
Where: The park
When: Forward-dated to Friday, Feb. 14, mid-afternoon
Rating: variable depending on who's threading
Status: Open/Ongoing/Multiple threads encouraged

The wedding is casual but elegant and starts in the late afternoon, just about the same time a light snow flurry begins to fall, and is set up in the largest section of the park in two parts.

The first hosts the ceremony, outdoors, under one of the largest trees, with the altar set up among the branches in the same place Bruce found Jacob his first day on the island. Darcy as made sure there are plenty of blankets available for people to grab in case they start to get cold. The ceremony is short but sweet with Jacob as Bruce’s best man, Bucky as Darcy’s ‘Dude of Honor’, the five-year-old versions of Steve and Bucky escorting her down the aisle and Tony officiating. [Ceremony will be threaded below for more details]

The second area is under a large, see-through tent with wooden dance floor underneath to make sure everyone can move around easily. The tent is well heated with heaters that Izzy has fitted to make sure they give off no fumes, as well as a fireplace to one side with a chimney directing smoke direct out of the tent. Other than Darcy’s bouquet there are no flowers, instead the tables are all decorated with slices of old logs, twigs, pine cones, ferns and moss along with plenty of unscented candles along long, family-style tables with no seating chart. The ceiling was intricately decorated as well to add some extra lighting. And if anyone looked carefully they’d see all of the candle holders, light glasses at the reception and even the base of Darcy’s bouquet were all made from scientific glassware, mostly beakers and flasks, that she’d scrounged from Tony’s R+D departments to surprise Bruce.

The food is all comfort food made by Maryanne and served buffet style, including mostly soups and stews, gumbo, lots of potato dishes, roast meats and veggies and curries, as well as plenty of food for kids (and picky adults)-things like chicken fingers, plain mashed potatoes and gravy, grilled cheese, and pasta. The cake made by Sookie sits on a separate table surrounded by little personal pies made by Isabel, in case someone doesn’t like cake or wants dessert early. There would also be a make-your-own s’mores table near the fireplace and plenty of drinks around, including coffee, hot chocolate and hot spiced cider, all three available spiked for those so inclined, on top of the usual choices.

By halfway through the reception Darcy has bustled up her dress up to about her knees to keep it out of the way (revealing her shoes as well) and once everyone seemed done with the food, for their first course at least, they would have cut the cake (Darcy giving all the sugar flowers to the kids first and mushing the first bite in Bruce’s face) and done all of the other ‘traditional’ wedding things that they could stand. Bruce is wearing a suit and tie to his wedding, though halfway through the reception, his tie is loosened from Darcy tugging on it. Once things start to wind down Bruce and Darcy would head off in Maryanne’s monster truck so Darcy can surprise him with a week-long honeymoon in Rivendell, leaving the set up for anyone else to use until the end of that week.

Bruce stepped forward and helped Darcy pull the shawl around her shoulders, grinning as she noticed how it matched her tie. His eye caught the sight, however, of a pouch at Bucky's hip that kept wriggling and moving and Bruce was worried about what he had planned.

But all Bruce could see, at the sound of her laugh, was Darcy. "You're the most beautiful woman I could ever know, Lewis. You're the light that keeps me out of the dark. Only you could make everything alright again with a smile." he sniffled.

Tony watched the two if them and chuckled. "Why am I here?" He said softly with a wink, obviously joking. He then raised his voice so he could be heard by all.

"I've known of Bruce longer than I've known him, but in the time we've known each other I've come to count him amongst my real friends. During that time, he almost never smiled. That all changed when Darcy came into his life." He looked at Darcy. "You've made him almost unrecognizable with the constant smile he now wears and I want to say thank you for putting some happy in his life." He then turned to Bruce. "I haven't known Darcy that long but she's been nothing but happy every time I have seen her. The love you two share has made you both stronger, better, more amazing versions of yourselves." He then looked at those gathered. "Now, unless I'm mistaken, I believe the happy couple have prepared their own vows. And I don't think I said happy enough times." He smirked.

Darcy was about to say something too when Tony brought her back to the fact that they weren't alone and there were a bunch of people all watching and waiting and she blushed again, nodding toward Tony and blindly grabbing for one of Bruce's hands while he spoke.

She took a deep breath when the attention turned to them, biting the corner of her mouth before she steeled herself to start speaking, as loudly as she thought she could keep up.

"Bruce, I...When I get really quiet sometimes, it's not because I have nothing to say, it's because I ave too much to say and I can never decide what to say to you first and no one has ever done that to me. And then I look at you and it's like I don't even need to say it at all, you already know and I just smile and I love knowing that you understand me even when I'm tripping over my own words. And sometimes I get irrationally jealous of all the people that get to see you every day but then I see the way you look at me and it's all gone, because I love that we never get tired of each other but we can still be apart and be okay because it makes being together mean more. I love the way we love the same things. And I love the way we love entirely different things. My head is this big jumbled mess of thoughts, and fears, and dreams, and cravings, and this tangled nostalgia for both the past and the future at the same time... but when I'm with you I feel whole and I feel human. And I have seen the best of you and the worst of you and but I choose both, and I promise that will never change. And I promise to love you no matter what this place throws at us, and to always eat a sandwich before I yell at you because sometimes I'm just hungry, and to always be your friend too, and to never forget that being here with you is like, one chance in the infinite possibilities, that you could probably come up with a number for, and to never take that for granted, because I love you. And most of all I promise to always love you." she let out a little bit too quickly and with a few too many pauses to breath. "And I promise to never ramble my way through our wedding because I forgot to write it all down again." she added with a small laugh, reaching up with her free hand to wipe her cheek dry.

"Darcy. I'm not much of a talker, in any kind of way but I am when I'm with you." He took her hands in his tightly, "You're all I ever need from now on because I found the other half of me that's been missing for decades. You try and fill the side with work or meaningless things but all you ever can truly fill it with is love. You're the love I need to make me feel whole and I love every second with you; when we fight or when I do things wrong and mess up, when we spend hours just curled up together talking or watch Netflix and I play with your hair. I love your hair by the way, it's beautiful. Like you." he fumbled a little, chuckling. "I promise to not work so much, and to appreciate and love every moment we get together. And I promise to always make you happy and make sure you know how much I love you." Bruce ran a thumb along her knuckles, "I am, like always, yours."

"Ugh, stop it." Tony said with a soft chuckle as he wiped his eyes. "Alright, now that the mushy stuff is over, do you have the rings?" Maybe they'd appreciate the humor.

Jacob took in every word his Mom and Dad spoke, and what the others said. You never knew when you'd need this kind of information for research later. And it reminded him to fix the toaster so that it didn't just put J's on the bread but maybe something that had to do with the three of them. When Tony mentioned the rings, he stepped toward his dad. Having worn a mini version of the same suit his father wore, they matched. He liked that. It was fun.

He poked lightly at his Dad's leg and pulled the rings out of his pocket and offered them up with a smile. He hadn't lost them. He hadn't improved them at all. Though he'd been very tempted to make them flash their names or something just as neat. But he decided against it. And instead left them as he'd been given them. "They're kinda just normal old rings still." He informed Tony, almost sadly, before he stepped back.

Bruce chuckled as Jacob handed him the rings, his little fingers seeming even smaller as Bruce crouched down to receive them in his palm. "That's my little man," he winked and pressed a kiss to Jacob's forehead. This day wasn't just about Bruce and Darcy getting married but becoming a real family too; a solid structure made for each other and supporting them. Bruce secretly hoped for more children, knowing that a vision of Darcy with his baby in her arms would be a sight to rival her in her dress.

He stood again, reaching for Darcy's slender hand. "Not quite normal rings," Bruce said to Tony. "They're our rings." he said the last part to Darcy. "I, Robert Bruce Banner, take you, Darcy Anne Lewis, to be my gorgeous wife. I promise to always do as I'm told," he grinned, "And to make you feel as good as you feel right now every single day of your life with me." he slid the ring on its side. "The inside of this ring is my fingerprint so that in some way, I will always be holding your hand." he slid the ring onto her finger.

Darcy giggled again softly, leaning down to kiss Jacob's forehead too, still through her veil. She gave Bruce a gently, fond smile as she listened, her grin just going wider when she saw the outlines o his finger on the inside of the band. She almost forgot that he was going to put it on her, too fascinated by it, but once she realized she straightened out her hand to make it easier.

She took his ring in her fingers gently, glad to see her fingerprint on the inside of it, even if she did have to wonder where he'd gotten it from. "I, Darcy Anne Lewis, take you, Robert Bruce Banner, to be my amazing husband. I promise to be with you in the best times, and the good times and the merely okay times, because it'll never really be bad if we're together-to always stick by your side, even if I get distracted by something shiny. And I will always do my best to make sure you know that you're loved, that you're never alone and that you are a good, good man." she told him, sliding the ring on to his finger and holding on to his hand.

"Alright, now that that's done." Tony smiled. "By the power invested in me by my sheer and complete awesomeness." HE smirked. "I now pronounce you married. I never really liked that whole husband and wife thing, you know?" He chuckled softly. "So kiss her already."

Bruce laughed and stepped towards Darcy, rolling his eyes at Tony's egotism. He didn't care about it; that was Tony after all. "I like the husband and wife thing." he pulled up her delicate veil and planted a deep kiss on her pouted lips, sealing every piece of love he had for her in that kiss.

Darcy was still giggling softly when Bruce pulled her veil up, she barely had time to smile at him before his lips were on hers. Humming softly she wrapped her arms around him, kissing him back with just as much emotion, eventually grinning a little bit against his mouth just before she dipped him down, still kissing him.

Jacob piped up, unable to help himself. "Eeeewwwwww." Though he giggled lightly knowing he had to ew. He had to. Kissing was gross.

Bruce laughed as Darcy dipped him, reaching up and cupping her cheek. Jacob making gross sounds was the tip of the cake and he laughed loudly, standing back upright and scooping his son up in his arms. "Give Mom a kiss, buddy." he said to Jacob.

Jacob actually puckered up the moment he couldn't escape. Giving his Mom a rather loud kiss, while wrapping his arms around her neck. Knowing Dad wouldn't drop him. Giggling softly against her lips even while he hummed loudly.

Bruce laughed and felt pride swell at his son. "Good lad." He grinned and reached for Darcy's free hand to walk back down the aisle as a family.

She held on to Bruce's hand, smiling wide as she walked back down the aisle, eye only for her little family that, somehow, finally, felt real.
