It was too beautiful a day to be burying the only girl he'd ever love. He had been seethingly angry for days, and honestly he still was angry but that had to be put to one side and filtered away for this day. This day was for her and her alone. He wore the only suit he owned, pitch black and fitted but her glasses were tucked into his handkerchief pocket, over his heart. He'd already placed her inside the grave and looked around at the turn out. He hadn't expected much, honestly. "Marta was... the most brilliant woman I knew. She changed me in more ways than one, in more than two." He said confidently with a lull in his tone. "She risked everything to stay with me, even when she could have left, had a new life. But it killed her in the end." he swallowed and picked up the shovel.
He couldn't watch the first few shovel fulls of dirt on top of her body, wrapped in the best linens with flowers on top of her. He had to do this right, do right by her before he got back to drinking himself stupid and finding the people who killed her. He gripped the shovel with an iron fist and took a deep breath. "She'd hate me for mentioning God in this..." he chuckled dryly, "But if there is a Heaven, she's there trying to scientifically disprove its existence." Aaron gritted his jaw tightly and looked down into her half-empty grave, unable to move away from the spot. She needed to be done right by. He'd failed her once but he wouldn't do it again.
