Who: Bruce and Ramses
Where: The park
What: A run in.
When: Saturday morning
Rating: TBD
Open: Maybe to Calleigh and Darcy

He'd been torturing himself over his mistake for the last few days since it happened. It should have been an easy keyhole surgery, if not routine. Bruce couldn't say with any certainty that he'd ever closed a hole in a man's diaphragm before but he'd known the theory inside and out, known what to do and it was relatively simple. Except it wasn't. Nothing simple ever was, he supposed, but even though Bruce had warned Steven about the risks of anaesthesia, it shouldn't have happened. Bruce should have known. He was his own worst enemy when it came to mistakes involving other people's lives. It was part of the reason why he never wanted to be an MD in the first place. At least when he had his accident in nuclear physics, he was the one who got hurt initially. Even that hadn't worked out the way he'd planned. Disaster followed Bruce all around the place and it had followed him onto this island.

If the place was deserted, it might have worked out better for him, albeit a lonely existence. But he wasn't one much to grind on what might have beens or what he should have done for more than The Other Guy let him before the self-hatred got too much and the roaring in his brain intensified at the neglect. The Other Guy did not like Bruce forgetting to give in to the anger just a little, just to feed the monster and that morning after a restless night, Bruce's skin itched to stretch and turn green. He couldn't breathe in the closeted space of his room at the hospital and jogged to the park for fresh air and to get the beast under control.

An hour in, through rounds of meditating and taking his anger out on foliage and running laps, there was a duller growl in the back of his head. Now Bruce was exhausted as he lay on the grass, energy spent while he tried to figure out how to fix Steven before the coma became too deep.

Rae wished there was something she could do, but getting close to the Hulk would be a bad idea. If she had her own body back, that would be one thing.

Rae had never worried much about his own safety as Ramses. He wasn't interested in dying or getting hurt, true, but he'd always been more concerned with making sure other people didn't get hurt.

Right now she carried precious cargo, and nothing was more important than the survival of her children.

"Cal! Be careful."

The Hulk still stalked away, ignoring the pleas for him to return, though they were a novelty. He was broken hearted and wanted to smash something. He plucked a tree from the ground and carried it over to the beach.

"Please come back. You don't need to smash anything. Please. So many people care about you. You don't even realize it. We'd be completely lost without you." He didn't even bother trying to separate Banner from the Hulk at that point. He didn't see a point in it. Though they were of different mindsets, they were the same person.

The Hulk balled his hands up into fists and turned, not intending to actually hurt Cal, just scare him. He roared warningly at him and hoped that Cal got the message as Bruce tried to get control back in his mind.

Cal stopped moving but he didn't back off. "You don't scare me." It wasn't entirely true. He was terrified of being pummeled but he wasn't actually afraid of the Hulk himself. Just of what he could do. He stood his ground, though.

"All I'm asking is that you not smash stuff right now, okay? Or at least smash stuff that doesn't matter."

Hulk just snarled and stalked off towards the beach, kicking rocks along his path in frustration. Bruce knew that he needed to steer Hulk away from civilisation and the beach had always been the best way to get his attention. Play games and everything would be good.

Cal made sure to keep the Hulk in sight, but he stayed back a bit as he followed him. The beach was a pretty safe bet, unless he ventured over to Mac's newly constructed fence. That would be a lot of work that would have to be redone and Cal wouldn't see that happen.
