Calleigh had done a short shift at the hospital that morning. Seeing that everyone seemed to have everything handled without her, she decided to go home and just relax. She'd been hearing about the people disappearing as she made her way back home so she was a little worried. She was afraid that she'd go home and find a completely empty house. She thought for sure that Ramses had gone straight home after walking her to work, which he usually did. He hadn't said anything about changing his plans. When she got home she went to the kitchen and got herself a glass of water, then went looking for her husband. "Ramses?" She looked around the house, checking every room. When she couldn't find him on the first floor, she decided to text him. She really didn't like traversing the stairs unless absolutely necessary. The text went unanswered for about five minutes, which was very much unlike Ramses. She furrowed her brow and started to head up to the bedroom as she called him. He always answered when she called. As she got to the landing on the floor with their bedroom, she stopped. The phone went to voice mail. She dialed again and this time, she heard the phone ringing from their bedroom. She hung up the phone and went into the bedroom, staring at the phone sitting on the nightstand. "No...." She closed her eyes for a moment. She wouldn't believe it. She refused to believe it. "Ramses?!" Maybe he was in the house and had just forgotten to have his phone on him. The panic was starting to set in and she took off running, as best she could. "RAMSES?!" She screamed as she started down the stairs. She needed to find him. He had to be okay. She was in such a hurry that she stumbled on one of the bottom steps. Unable to catch her balance, she fell the last three steps of the staircase. As she landed, she hit her head on the floor and was instantly unconscious. |
