Briseis felt s bit guilty that she had missed the gentleman's arrival. She tried so hard to keep up on who had arrived, and whether they needed help adjusting to this place. People from a different time - like she had once been - often had trouble with many things that others didn't even understand - especially the men. They were used to being served in every day, and were often quite lost when having to take care of themselves for the first time in their lives.
And she also liked doing it. When she was quiet and idle, her thoughts became too active, and there was not really anyone here she could talk to. Connor and Methos were kind to her, it was true, but they also saw her (and treated her) like a porcelain doll that needed protecting. She wasn't. She'd been through more hardship than many, and just because she was gentle and kind didn't mean she was weak. She knew that those here thought of her that way - almost like a child. She was far from being that, either.
Shaking her head, she gathered a basket with cheese, some chicken, some butter, a warm loaf of bread, some cookies she had made earlier in the day, and a bottle of wine before making her way to the gentleman's room.
Double checking to make sure she had the right room, she knocked.
