"Oh no, certainly not," she smiled. "I've been reading a lot, history, literature, trying to learn about this world and all the things that I've missed. If I'm going to live here, I need to be able to understand what's going on around me, and what people are talking about. And I spent a good deal of time learning the language here...I didn't understand much when I first arrived."
She smiled.
"It's nice to have time to do what I please," she said with a smile. "And to cook because I want to cook. Because I do enjoy it."
She sipped her wine again before addressing his more serious words.
"Yes. They...think they are being kind. And watching out for us. But I'm not a child, and I don't need to be protected." She bit her lip. "I wish they'd treat me like a person."
