Who? AU Miguel and Maryanne
Where? Wheel 3 park, by the memorial wall
When? just after this and the chat with Maria, January 4th
What? Drinking the better-than-Asgardian-wine stuff
Open? Probably not
Miguel made his way through the park to the memorial wall, feeling a little less like he was about to shatter after talking with Maria. His head was still a complete mess, yes, but he wouldn't have to be alone. Shock, she was even going so far as to get him somewhere that wasn't the back corner of the lab, something he'd never gotten round to doing himself. The idea that he could have one of the apartments as well simply hadn't occurred to him at all once he was allowed to use the lab. But tonight, he'd sleep in a bed. And when he woke up in the morning, no matter how bad he felt or what state he was in, she would be there. And that felt amazing.
Of course, everything else in his head was completely shocked. He'd killed those soldiers in Paris. He hadn't warned his younger self about their bastard of a dad (although he was fairly certain that Miggy knew there would be more to come for a long time). He was having nightmares about their bastard of a dad, ever since he'd realized that his other self was now six years old. New people were showing up, other people were reverting back to their usual selves, things were changing and he was constantly telling himself that it didn't mean something was going to happen. But he couldn't stop bracing for it (whatever it was or wasn't) happening anyway. His brain was on constant high alert, and it was exhausting.
Perhaps if he drank something strong enough, it would make his brain stand down the high alert, even just for a night. He'd made the post on the network to see if people would mind if he drank some of the alcohol in the first place. Beer and wine did nothing for him any more unless he drank a hell of a lot, he'd known that before he'd ever left Nueva York, so he'd been checking to see if getting a bottle of some sort of liquor would be okay. But then Maryanne had offered to share some of her "better than Asgardian wine" stuff with him, and he would have been a fool to turn that down. Miguel was many things, but he didn't think he was a fool, and so he said 'yes please'.
When he reached the wall, he walked over to where he'd scored Ava's name onto it almost a year ago now, and brushed his fingers against it. Then he went back to the start of the wall and started reading through the names while he waited for Maryanne.
