John stepped out the door and back into the hall, an exhausted look on his face. He had just spent the better part of a full day and night in the same room as the Heart, studying it. Of course, he couldn't just sit and observe it now could he? There were things he needed to know and thanks to a mixture of his own magic and the things Kytanna had taught him, John was able to do a bit more than just study the Heart. He was able to peer into it. See its influence, its reach. He could see the people on the station it influenced and their connection to the Heart too, and worse of all, he could see and feel the corruption left within the Heart. The corruption that was effecting the whole station, including the ley lines he had placed there some time ago. He had spent a lot of time and energy on those ley lines and they were corrupted to the point where John wasn't even sure they could be saved. The Heart, the ley lines... John needed to help figure out how to fix things. It would have been easy to turn his back on things and at one point he might have but the station had become his home, and as much as he'd hate to admit it, he did have people on the station he cared about. People worth saving.
John lit a cigarette and leaned back against a wall, taking the time to adjust to things again. He was exhausted. Magically drained. He knew he'd need a little bit of time to rest up after everything he had just put himself through. Maybe after a bit of time, he'd be of more use but until then... He slid down the wall and sat down on the floor. Smirking to himself, he was sure he felt a familiar presence. He took a long drag before saying, "I heard you'd be around. Hardly surprising that you're here. So what did you find then?" he asked with a short chuckle.
