Who: Miguel and Tony
Where: Sarah and Miguel's lab-space
What: Discussing Science and stuff
When: after this
Rating: S for Science! and Spider-man

This Chitauri thing was puzzling Miguel. It was clearly the power source for both weapons. He'd rigged together a few basic circuits and used one of the glowing crystals to power all of them, all at the same time and all of them going full tilt. There was no noticeable power drain on it that he or Lyla could tell, and he was half-tempted to try and rig up some sort of adaptor to allow one of his more energy-thirsty machines from home to use it as a power source and see how long it lasted. There was nothing really coming off of it in the infra-red spectrum, no heat, nothing that Lyla knew to detect. It was weird.

So how the hell had three bank robbers wound up with them powering their weapons? He drank his coffee while he turned one of the crystals over and over in his hand, waiting for Mr. Stark to arrive.

"I don't have any pastries available," Lyla said from behind him, still tinted very slightly purple from Sarah's crystal capacitor, and he looked round at her.

"I think the coffee will be fine, Lyla. Don't worry about it, okay?"

"If you say so, Miguel."

"Of course, Tony. If you would like more coffee at some point in the future, just say my name," Lyla said, then vanished once more.

"Sorry, she's, uh. Kind of autonomous at times," Miguel explained, setting down the crystal. "So, do you have any questions? Have you worked with these crystals before?"

"It's alright." He was sure Jarvis would be the same way if he had a holographic form. Tony looked over the weapons again, sighing. "I have about a million questions. I tried working with them once but they're kind of unstable." At least for what he tried.

"Unstable? In what way?" And there he'd been, tossing one around like a kid's toy. Shocking idiot, O'Hara.

Tony pulled out his phone and pulled up a file, handing it over to Miguel. "Different types of radiation can cause different reactions. They're lucky they didn't blow themselves up." He picked up one of the crystals. "Like this, they're dormant. So don't worry "

Miguel took the phone and scanned through the file. "Oh, shock," he muttered, "how many of those things are out on the streets?" Could he get more of the weapons? Was there a point if nothing they did had any effect?

"There shouldn't be any." Tony pinched the bridge of his nose. "I created a department specifically for the collection and destruction of these things. Nobody should have them." He gestured to the weapons. "And this is exactly why."

"Nobody should have them, I agree," Miguel said, clearly frustrated with the restrictions imposed on them by the doors, "but I took these off a group of guys intent on emptying a load of ATMs with them, and they didn't care about hurting anyone in the process. So they are out there. I just don't know how big a problem it is."
