Who: Any And All Residents Who Show Up
What: Meeting of the minds Against the Man
When: Nightfall, 9p
Where: A river bend in the woods
OPEN

Note: Feel free to tag in however is most convenient to you. Tag in the long paragraph from, make a brief OOC comment, smaller replies, whatever works best!

An hour before the meeting had been called Rhysand arrived and meandered around to wait patiently for any who would come. He hoped it was in droves, the entire island. He did not know these people well or how they stood up as a whole, whether they would fight against the way the Man used them and played with them or if they would bow down because, for whatever their personal and valid reason, they liked it here and overlooked those things. A part of Rhysand was not sure this was the right thing to do, that seeking this man's slaughter was too much; he feared it because what happened when everything cracked? Did they all go home, back to where ever they came from never to see each other and their loved ones again? Loved ones they only met here on this island from other times, planes of existence, and worlds. Or were they still stuck here in a worse state than they were now?

He had no answers.

He also had no Mate. She was gone. He had spent the day since their last brief communication down the bond looking for her. It raged in his veins to be by her side, to find her, but the connection between their souls went everywhere and nowhere. When Rhysand should have rested before the meeting he kept looking for her and barely managed to eat today. He could eat later. He'd be fine. He'd survived worse...

As islanders heeding the call, or in the least interested in what he had to say, arrived he smiled at them and greet them. Some he spoke with personally, introduced himself to, others he simply nodded at. And then, when the clock tower range in the distance that it was the meeting hour he began. Rhysand was always punctual and these people had places to be, beds to lie in, or choices to make. It could be a long night for some of them.

"Good evening," said the High Lord as he stood on the bank of the river's bend, looking at everyone standing, sitting, or even swimming. For those that had no met Rhysand he was a tall man, taller than average for any human onlooker for fae were not human. He was beautifully handsome with violet eyes, dark hair and tanned skin. He wore a black tunic suitable for the summer evening accented with silver threads that danced like the stars and a pair of inky black slacks to go with it. Rhysand had forced his air to be welcoming rather than imposing despite his anger. If these people were to work with him they needed to see his best side, not his worst. He wasn't Under the Mountain or in the Night Court.

He was talking to the people of Velaris.

"Thank you all for joining me tonight. I'm glad to see so many faces. I realize my calling card was a bit cryptic and I'm thankful for your interest and consideration to be here." The fae shifted on his feet before motioning toward the city and island.

"I'll just start into it. No sense dancing around the subject at this point...As several of you know, and likely more of you have heard, there is unrest among us. Katherine and I, along with some others without whom we would not have even gotten this far, have prepared an attack on the island. I asked you here, tonight, for your help in that attack. Whatever your help may be, whatever form it takes, I am appreciative of it. Whether you stand up and fight against the monsters that will no doubt come for us--or you guide those who cannot do so to safety; I am appreciative of it.

"I need you, all of you, as many of you as will offer. A plan has already been set in to motion and in three nights time it will be deployed. For the safety of everyone, all of you and the children at home sleeping, for those that could not or would not be here tonight, I cannot tell you exactly what the plan is. A select few know of the plan and, if something should happen to me, the next in line of the plan will execute it. There has been talk of secrets and lies. This is that secret. It is to be kept as such to prevent the Man from attacking us. If he should do away with those few of us that know of the secret, the plan will not be exacted, and you all will be left alone. So those few of us have agreed it best to not inform the entire island of the plan.

"You have three days time to move. Move as far away as you can from the Spire as you possibly can; to the outskirts of the island. Any safe house. To the trees. To the princess' castle on the cliffs--it will hold many, I've counted the rooms and beds. Please. Just go. If you will not fight at least take yourself to a place that is as far from the center of this mess as possible.

"We began this because we are weary from the loss incurred here. How much grief will you suffer through before it's too much? How many have we lost from this island because of Him taking them away? People don't die here at the rate that they are taken. Ripped away from you, from your hearts. He drags his fingers through your souls and you cannot continue to allow it. He turns you into someone or something you are not as pleasure! How many of you have been turned into your mother, father, sister, brother, loved one? How many of you have had your timelines twisted? Or have woken up unable to remember your life because you are suddenly younger or older? Don't tell me this is acceptable behavior. Don't tell me you believe that man is a god and you allow this to go on because it is his will!

"Your will is the only will. And I beg of you that that will is to join me and tear him from his throne. I will now answer any and all questions that I can."

And so he wait for the questions to roll in.

~~~
OOC
We made it, cuties! The time is now!
If your characters have questions, now is the time to ask them! Make your stand against the Man!
Rhysand will answer any question anyone has to the best of his ability.
A narrative post will be made Friday pulling the trigger on the Spire, unless more time is needed <3 Please let me know. While I don't want you, the player, to feel rushed to respond (remember you can always reply later down the road or backdate a thread) I did not want our characters to feel lackadaisical about this. It's happening and, now that Rhysand has spoken aloud the truth, it needs to happen sooner than later before the Man comes for him, too.
"Come on." Neville took hold of her hand and then took his wand out of his pocket with the other. He knew he didn't really need it with her right there and that they'd probably already scared off anything in the area but it was habit and at this point he'd rather be as safe as possible.
He wasn't sure how she felt about apparating or about moving them with her powers so he just started to walk instead. Either one would probably be better to do farther away from everyone else anyway.
Hope didn't hesitate to walk with him. She didn't have a problem with him pulling out his wand either. Before the Man had committed his heinous act of murder, that wand spent more time out than hidden away.
"As... You're going to have to apparate us. I don't... It's been a while." She didn't even have the look of the apartment in her mind anymore, it had been so long.
"Yeah, hold on tight." He let go of her hand to wrap his arm around her waist instead, holding her up against his side.
It was only a moment later that they appeared in the middle of his apartment, his arm still tight around her to make sure she was steady.
Hope turned so that she was flush against him, when he put his arm around her waist. She held onto him as he held her. Was this why the man brought her forward? Because he knew she'd be distracted. Knew that... Was it even real?
If it wasn't she was ready to just fall into it anyway. And she was more than glad to stay close to him for a little bit. "Is Ruby here?"
"Probably on the roof, he's been clingy." Neville was sure he didn't need to bring up all the creatures people had needed to kill around the city. He tucked his wand back in to his pocket and put his other arm around her, feeling that she needed to be close and frankly, he wanted it too.
He kissed her lightly. "Do you need anything? There's ice cream or some chocolates. Or I could make tea?"
Hope understood the need. Perhaps the dragon sensed something was about to happen, beyond all the monsters. She didn't know if she could feel it because she'd lived it already or if it really was that tangible.
She smiled when he kissed her. "No, I'm okay for now." Sure she was being a little clingy too. But he'd been gone for a long time.
"Okay." he rubbed over her back a few moments, "Do you want to lay down? The bedroom is frigid so you can lay under that big blanket you like." It was a little bit odd, to have to remind her of things that they had just discussed before bed last night, but he knew it had been a long time for her. And he somehow knew that the woman he'd gone to sleep with was the same one in his arms now, there wasn't going to be two of her like there were some of the others.
She'd forgotten about the big blanket. Forgotten about how perfectly cold the room was. Hope couldn't even remember the last time she'd even bothered to let herself feel the passing of the seasons. She nodded slowly. "I would like that. A lot."
She had started out fierce, ready to strike down the enemy. And now she was ready to melt into a puddle, and snuggle.
"C'mon." he murmured to her with another quick kiss, letting her go just enough to take her hand and guide her back to the room they'd been sharing. Once there he stepped away to pull down the sheets and arrange the pillows the way she liked.
"Your uh, you've got some more comfortable clothes in the left side there, if you like." he reminded her, gesturing to a chest of drawers up against one wall and then pulling some sweatpants of his own out of the other side.
Hope closed her eyes as he led her through to the room they had shared. While she wanted to bathe in the memories, grab ahold with both hands and keep them all for dear life, she wanted the second return of her memories to be of that room. Of that absolutely perfect bedroom. Everything else was unimportant.
The room was like a gift. Her wings spread just a little at the crisp feeling in the air, the moment it hit her skin, before she folded them away and put them up. The first time she'd done so on ages. The first time she'd changed herself by physically removing her clothes, was another step, as her fingers began tugging at the buckles and clips.
"I feel rusty, doing all this." Hope admitted. To him. To herself.
Neville couldn't help watch as her wings reacted to the room and then she tucked them away. He understood why she kept them hidden most of the time but he'd be the first to admit he always thought they were beautiful.
He was half way through changing with her words and he turned back to her, chuckling softly. Despite the cold, and that he wasn't wearing a shirt, he moved close to her again, kneeling in front of her as he started to help her remove the armor. He didn't undo the buckles or clasps for her but he held on to the pieces as she undid them and once they were released he set each one aside. Once she was down to the last few pieces he looked up and asked, "What do you want to wear? I can find it for you."
And her wings were much broader than they had been just the night before. With time, and the education from her Grandfather-while he had been there, she'd grown them to be nearly as big as her angelic Aunts and Uncles. Without the blinding property that came along with them. She could now carry her own body weight, and that of at least two people.
Hope flushed slightly when he knelt in front of her. Who in their right minds would complain about Neville Longbottom, kneeling in front of them? The last few pieces were simply Holy chainmail that had been fine enough to wear beneath. "Something silky?" She actually had no clue on what she had in her drawers. She just knew she wanted to feel as much of his body heat as she could.
Neville went back to the drawers and pulled out one of her nightgowns, a favorite of his. It was simple, cream colored and silky with soft lace around the bottom and across the top edge. It would only come to mid-thigh on Hope and had thin straps over her shoulders, but with the warm blankets and each other, she'd be warm enough.
"How's this?" he asked, holding it up.
While he went to the drawers, she slowly pulled the mail over her head. It wasn't all that heavy, but it did it's job. She lay the top over the end of the bed, and unlaced the trousers, shimmying out of them, as he held up the slip.
"Perfect." It wouldn't do any good against any of the elements, which was why it was fantastic. Without a second thought the shift was up and off, lying on top of the mail. Leaving her in just the thatched fabric of the long underwear she'd worn beneath all her armor.
Neville couldn't help but watch her finish undressing, he imagined any man would have trouble doing so. He held the gown in one hand as he approached her again, his rough hand brushing the soft skin on her waist gently. Even though she'd just been there some part of him still felt like he'd missed her anyway.
"Need anything else?" he asked softly.
"I almost want a hot shower, Jake mentioned running water, and heat. But I'd rather just, cuddle right now." She almost wanted to ask if Ruby could come cuddle with them, was he still small enough to do that? But she didn't. Instead she eased the offered bit of silk over her head, and let it slide down.
Hope stepped closer, sliding her arms around his neck, as she settled her head against his shoulder. She had missed him. Missed his smell.
"It'll still be there in the morning." he told her, though neither of them could be sure, they still had a few days until the plan was set to start so hopefully things wouldn't get too disrupted until then.
He held on to her, kissing her shoulder and rubbing at the small of her back. "C'mon, lay down beautiful." he murmured softly, "I'm right here."
He couldn't know that it would be. But the shower was pretty low on her things to do. Things she wanted to do. She could live without the hot water. If anything she could get the girls to tell her. Or if they hated her. If trying to help things go a different way didn't change how they felt about her, then she was sure she could get Jake to tell her how it felt.
Hope smiled against his skin. "Okay," slowly she pulled away from him. Let herself feel the cold again. A shiver ran down her spine that had her moving a little hastily as she got on the bed and slid under the covers. "Oh my Chuck... I forgot how good this felt."
He laughed softly at her reaction, it was kind of cute. He didn't bother to finish putting on his pajamas and just followed her as he was, sliding in to the side of the bed he usually occupied.
With a low rumble of contentment he snuggled in a bit himself, glad for the warm and comfort but also glad that she was here and was still her. That even with everything she must have been through the Man hadn't won, hadn't defeated her body or soul.
"Better?" he asked softly.
No. She hadn't been lost completely. But she had lost a lot of herself in the meantime. But there was Hope. Hope that everything would go differently this time. That everything would... That The Man would die. Even if they didn't know what would happen. They knew what would if he didn't.
So she took advantage of that little bit of happiness she'd been offered, inched closer. Her hand coming up to caress his face, to trace her fingers along his jaw. "Yeah. Much better."
He smiled, hand moving to rest over her hip and keep them close as she touched his face.
It was difficult, not to think about what was coming, not to compare it to the things he'd already done. But it was because of that he knew that they needed this too. They needed any moments of calm and comfort they could afford because, even if they did win, those would be few and far between after the fight.
"Better is good."
"I should know better than ask this but... Are you scared?" She was, a little. Afraid things might just bo right back the way they were. It was probably as close to hell as her kind would ever get. And she didn't want to go back to that.
Her hand traced the fuzz down his throat. The little things she hadn't forgotten. Hope smiled a little, before her hand dropped and she curled up into him. Her arm sliding around his middle.
Neville sighed just a bit. "Yeah." he whispered, in to her hair. "I think anyone who isn't is underestimating what it's going to be like once it all breaks." Even though last time he'd thought he was prepared and he'd been scared to death, he had no idea what it would really be like. He knew not to expect anything this time.
"But we'll get through it." And though he said it he knew that there was a possibility one or both of them wouldn't, but that, as a whole, the community would find a way. "People are...resilient."
"I'll be less scared, if we win. Because no matter what comes after that, I know we can handle it, because anything has got to be better than if we don't." She had a feeling they wouldn't go home. And she was kind of glad. Even if some people were probably going to fight for that sole reason.
Hope knew she was going to be more involved, come what may. They couldn't die again. This couldn't be fucking Groundhog's day. They were sorely lacking a Bill Murray. Even if Deadpool was close.
"I think we all will be." He didn't really want to think that far. They didn't know what was going to happen even if they did win. All he knew is that where they were, letting this one being have so much power over them, wasn't okay. They needed to do something, to fight and just hope that the end result would put them in a better place.
He sighed again softly and closed his eyes, leaning his face in to her hair, breathing her in and holding her close. "If we go...back. If we go back, I hope I don't forget." he whispered to her softly.
