Thomas was nervous. He had managed to water the same plant for the third time now. Then given up in frustration and got the spade out of the shed. This endeavour lasted another five minutes until he figured out that he had forgotten what he wanted to do with the spade.

There had been too many bad news recently. Too many. He had a bad feeling about this too. If Jake was back, he would have known. Had they found traces of him? Was someone else gone? He could check the phone list. It would be so easy. But, really, he couldn't.

JR walked through the garden towards his father, hating what he was about to do but unable to think of a different course of action he could live with. Tom deserved, needed to know what happened to Rhiannon. He was the patriarch of the family, even if the murdered child hadn't been born yet in this time line.

"Dad, " he greeted his father, observing the shovel and the distracted look in the other man's eyes.

	He hadn't noticed JR approach. He had been too busy staring ahead and wrangling with the potential nightmare that was to follow. "Oh, eh, hey," Tom said and almost dropped the spade. 	"Here, let me take that." JR plucked the spade from his father's hand, not wanting the other man to swing it at him without thinking. He could see from the expression on Tom's face that drawing it out would just prolong the agony. "I've got bad news, pop. You'll want to sit down for this." 	Tom looked around. He couldn't find anything to sit down. He didn't want to sit down. He wanted to know what it was and he didn't. "No, it's fine. Just tell me who vanished." 	Rhi. One of his youngest. His daughter. Killed. Tom took a deep breath. He mulled every word over and analysed every detail of it. "Killed..." He took a step back, eyes darting around in a search for nothing. "Killed." People did not kill people here. "Why? Where is he?" Why was he still free? He was a danger to everyone and everything. Ok his father didn't take a swing at him. That was good.

JR tried to keep his voice even, to keep the emotion from overwhelming him when he wanted to scream and rage at the sky. "Yes, killed. I don't know why and I don't know who did it, but I'm going to find out and I'm going to kill the son of a bitch who murdered my sister."

He looked down at his phone. "That's Adele now, hopefully she'll have more information than she told Elyssa."

"She says she can show me. I just have to close my eyes." That was a little freaky but it would be better than just getting a description of what she saw, it would be if he were there.

He did as she asked and a flood of images entered his mind, showing him exactly what the murderer looked like.

"Oh god." JR groaned, putting one hand to his head and swaying on his feet. It wasn't so much the images, he'd seen far worse during the war. It was more that he was looking at his sister's murderer and having the unfamiliar sensation of having the new information pushed into his mind.

	Hours had passed until JR spoke again. Okay, maybe not quiet but it had felt like that for Tom. His heart immediately began to race again. "Yeah, what's she..." "She showed me what she saw." Though he noted she'd quite obviously chosen not to show him his sister's body, something he already was conflicted over. But introspection could wait for later.

"She showed me everything she knows about the son of a bitch." He smiled, but it wasn't a pleasant expression and his eyes were very cold. "And I'm going to nail his ass so hard he'll wish he was never born before he dies."

Adele teleported directly in front of JR, her fairy light flashing at the tips of her fingers. Her eyes were flashing too, though she maintained her human form.

She wasn't sure how that man, that thing's, powers worked or if they'd work on a guy. She wouldn't take any chances with her cousin. "Don't let him touch you." She ordered without even a hello.

"He can mess with your mind. He got through my shields like they were nothing." Adele answered. "My shields aren't at their best when I'm emotional, but they ain't nothing." And JR was human. No shields.

"I only felt it when he put my hands on me." It was the only word she wanted to use. She had little experience with sexual desire, most men on the island were related to her, too old or in relationships. And admitting that she felt those feelings for a man that killed Rhi would make her feel like a monster.

	JR studied her for a moment and then gathered his cousin in for a hug, her trespasses forgiven. He kept forgetting how young she was and how sheltered here on the island, with no big cities or wars to force her to grow up fast. "Did he hurt you at all?" He asked after a moment. 	Adele hugged him back gingerly. Thinking about what happened to Rhi brought sparks of anger to her mind, and it took an effort not to have sparks flying off her fingers as well. She shook her head. 	Tom watched in silence. JR was gathering information for a man hunt. A man hunt that shouldn't have had to happen. The most horrid of images disturbed his mind. "Uhm, Adele... I'm sorry, I've got to ask. Do you think she suffered?" While his son's mind was set on revenge, Tom pictured his kids - his babies - in pain and alone. It was unbareable. 	JR closed his eyes at the question, one he'd had himself but hadn't wanted to ask. It wasn't relevant to hunting down her killer and if the answer was that she had suffered, well, he wasn't sure he could handle that right now. But if his father needed to know he'd hold his tongue. 	There was no checklist or procedure to follow when a sibling was murdered. JR had done his duty as a child and informed his father. What he wanted most now was to hunt down the bastard responsible and make sure that both his sister was avenged and nobody else was hurt. At least she hadn't suffered he could take comfort in that. "I will." JR promised, wishing there was something, anything, he could do to make things easier on his father. What could he say? In this sort of situation Tom Sully didn't know how to set out to take the life of another sentient being. Not many people did, and in JR's opinion it was a good thing. It wasn't something done lightly or for frivolous reasons.

His father was one of the best men he'd ever known, and JR had always felt like he let him down precisely because he'd grown up taking a different path. Because he'd followed his uncle's example instead of his father's. It was another punch to the gut seeing the man broken like this. But what else could he say? It wasn't the time or the place to try and tell him how much he was respected by his eldest son.

Tom's own thoughts were far from JR's. He gave his son a nod and stepped inside. The lump in his throat restricted his words. The few ones he thought he might manage were reserved for a much more horrific situation.

He almost stumbled over one of the kid's toys - a tiny Na'vi figure - and cursed. Thomas Sully rarely cursed. "Uhm, Izzy?" he asked as loudly as he managed. Then he stopped and listened. Usually the sounds of kids gave her position away.
