Who: Steve and Michael
Where: The pools in the Jedi temple
What: Swimming and so forth
When: Saturday
Rating: Low
Open: To anyone in the temple
Status: Ongoing
Steve had been wanting to take Michael out to the thermal baths or even to the beach but the weather turned cold before he made the final decision. Fortunately, they had the pools in the basement. He could spend some time with his son in the water and not have to worry about traveling through the cold. It was hard to believe that Michael was already almost a year old. Time definitely flew pretty quickly.

As he headed down to the pool, Michael jabbered almost continuously in his baby talk. Steve swore he could understand a word every now and again but he figured it had to be his imagination. Or something Force related that he could ask either Micha or Kytana about later. He still felt a little strange living in the temple. He wasn't a Jedi. He didn't have any sensitivity to the Force at all, and yet there he was. Only because Micha and his son lived there. He certainly wasn't going to ask her to leave just to make himself more comfortable. He'd been dealing with it so far.

One advantage to Michael taking after his mother was that when they got to the water, Steve didn't have to worry about holding the baby above the water. He stepped into the pool and lowered his son into the water and then just let him swim. Steve laughed as he watched Michael swim in circles around him. He wasn't as strong a swimmer as Micha, but he was just a baby. It was obvious to tell that he was enjoying himself, though. Steve wondered if maybe Michael felt more at home in the water than on the land. Maybe he'd be able to tell him when he started talking.

Steve nodded. "I think she had a bit more energy, actually." He smiled and shifted a little closer to Micha. "He's figured out how to use his tail to splash me with water but other than that, he's been good."

Michael swam up to Micha and snuggled up to her side.

"Is that right?" She glanced down at their son and tried to hide a smile, though her amusement was clear in the Force. "That's earlier than Kytana discovered that trick, though she was more of an indiscriminate splashed. Have you been splashing daddy?" The last was directed at Michael, who giggled in reply.

"Yup. I think he's a little ahead of her in the mischief department." Steve smiled. As he watched the two of them he had a very brief tinge of jealousy. It only lasted a moment. The same thing had happened when Kytana was younger. The acknowledgement that Michael would always have a connection that he never could.

She'd sensed his jealousy. How could she not? Even without the Force she could have guessed it, given their experience with Kytana. Hopefully it would be as brief as it had with their first child. All she could do was trust the Force.

"Why don't we burn off some more of that energy by having him swim between us?" she suggested, "I could put myself out partway down the pool and he can swim back and forth. Make a game out of it."

The jealousy was always brief. It had completely dissipated when Kytana had become a daddy's girl when she was younger. He had no doubt that Michael would be a mama's boy, mainly because he was convinced that was genetic.

"That sounds like a really good idea." Steve nodded. "How far out do you think he can handle?"
