Dear current residents of Goodland,

If anyone has seen a young, wiry girl with few social graces to her name, please notify her that her brother is, at present, 'home'.

Sincerely,

Pretty sure 'few social graces' describes a lot of the young 'wiry' girls around here.

Yes, that became immediately obvious, though one may argue the same can be said of the boys as well.

I'm not sure if that's a lack of social graces or stupidity honestly.

Bit of both, perhaps. Not terribly welcoming, but the same would never be said of myself.

People like to fluff themselves up, prove something. Rather than just walk on by if they don't have something constructive to add. At the least, you've made some people use some brain cells?

Rather unintentionally, I might add. Had they considered actually reading what they decoded, perhaps they'd have found a sentimental reasoning for the use of it as you quite clearly have.

There's usually a reason for those things, but people focus instead on the 'other'. I'm sure if you really wanted to send a very private message to your sister, you'd manage.

Indeed. Had privacy been a concern, there would have been a perfectly reasonable option available.

Your sister and you use ciphers a lot? I suppose it's a bit like inside jokes, right?

More of a way we were raised, I suppose you might say. She is an exceptional decipherer.

Can't win anyway. You could've made it impossible to crack, unless it was her, and people would be telling you that you were being rude and exclusionary.

Fortunately, I am accustomed to being perceived negatively. It comes with the business of my work. It matters little, though the remarks do, over time, prove tedious.

That much I understand. People base their opinion on something they perceive rather than learning anything. It's pretty hard to figure out what people expect. At least until you stop caring what people think.
