Little bit of housekeeping. Hi, for newer people who haven't seen me around, I'm Sam Wilson.

1. Hannah Abbott and I are working on getting a medical centre set up on the ground floor, if anyone's worried about dealing with whoever the rest of the people on this island/mysterious pocket dimension/possibly a snow globe are for health needs. I'll let Hannah tell you about any specialisations she has because apart from a case study that got cut short several years ago on traditional herbalism in the Amazonian basin I know nothing about magic. I was a Special Forces Medical Sergeant in the Army until I retired and started collecting doctorates. These days I specialise in cybernetics and biotechnology, but I can handle more mundane things just fine too.

2. If you've got any pre-existing medical conditions, unusual biology, or anything else along those lines, feel free to let one of us know about it.** Or not. Your call.

3. Anyone not say hi on Tony's post? It wouldn't be a bad idea to have a basic headcount of who's here just in case. We have no idea what to expect from this place. Try to keep an eye on your roommates for the same reason. Even if everything's completely fine it'll help people not feel too isolated if they're turning up not knowing anyone.

4. People seems to be pretty on top of the food situation. Anyone want to see how the bars are?

added:
5. Any tv or movies you'd recommend for someone who's mostly been stuck with reruns and reality shows for the last decade?

[ooc: because I like to be fully extra at all times if you want to do this oocly you can! here!]

I didn't say anything. Typing is harder just now. Have to use voice to text. My hands keep bleeding. Got bandages to spare?

Cool.

Got attacked just before this, they aren't healing or clotting though. Thought they'd heal by now.

Definitely wouldn't hurt if it's something that gives you trouble. I'll probably be hanging around most of tomorrow getting things set up if you want to come tell me about it.

Might depend what you want it stocked with. Some things have a short shelf-life so we're not gonna have the range of Walgreens.

Turns out they like when you've already done pre-med on scholarship and it really reduces the cost of post-grad.

So I was bit by this spider, right? And it changed my physiology pretty massively, yeah? Is that the kind of stuff you mean?

Cybernetics and biotech?! That’s so cool! Do you combine the two, too?

Yeah. A lot of people would call me a transhumanist, but I'm way more cautious about it than most other notable scientists at home. I've read up on the history of the field enough to know exactly how it can go wrong, either through major ethics breaches, application in ways it wasn't intended, or fucking screwing up the science. So a lot of what I do stays theoretical, never makes it to human trials, or never gets published. Makes me a lot less well-known than people like Banner and Richards, but I've also never tried to destroy the world I can live with that.

So. Spider?

That is so awesome, even if mostly theoretical. What were you working on before coming here?

[Sam Wilson]

What No What Spider? Where?! It would so figure this place as some kind of infestation! If it’s too good to be true, it probably is.

Oh Merlin, I haven't thought of tvs and movies. There's so many from the muggle world that I haven't seen. I wouldn't know where to start. My mother did take to a few films when I was younger. But that stopped after her dea

I didn't really think of it until I spotted a movie poster. I'm old enough to remember when tv was good, but I haven't thought about it in a long time.

I have a friend that's muggleborn that was obsessed with this show called The Office? I've only seen a few episodes of that one.

And I think the last film I went to see was Titanic.

Clearly I'm behind in muggle culture and should use this as an opportunity to dive back in.
