What do you do when you feel homesick and you can't go home?

Try to make more family here. I miss mine, but I’m a foster kid so it’s normal to make my own family.

I've already done that. Three people from home that I'm very close to are here and we all live together.

My father once told me that my home wasn't a place, but it's people.

So find people who make any planet feel like home.

Home is people. I like that. I do have some pretty great people here.

Try to find pieces of home here, whether that’s people or a particular type of food or even an item of some kind with a special memory attached.

I have the people part covered but the second part ... I wonder if I can find a play like the Crashhdown here. That might help me.

It's even worse when you are home, but the home you knew is long gone and will never come back. And all you can do is just...soldier on and hope to survive another day.

Do they not have sarcasm where you're from?

I have yet to hear of a good apocalypse. I was merely being facetious.

I'm from a small tourist town with an alien theme so that'll be kind of hard to do here.

Take it as you will. It could be work as work can keep the mind distracted. It could also be other things, such as new and old hobbies or meeting new people or doing something you did at home. It could even be doing something you never thought about before or you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t yet.

I've been doing a lot of research on this lately. Most suggest similar to what everyone else has: distract yourself by finding activities or people here you like, take advantage of things you can do here that you can't do at home, find small things that remind you of home.

I wish there was a better answer, though.

Everyone has that one thing that makes them feel centered and alive and themselves. You've just gotta find it and do that. It's not easy, no, but the journey is part of the process.

I know that all sounds like cliche self-help bullshit, but I promise that it's true. It helped me when I was away from my family.

I already know what that is for me; it's music and Science.

I don't know a lot about science, but I've always been able to throw myself into music, so I get that. I would do that. The science too. There are a lot of people trying to figure things out here and they need all the help they can get. Feeling helpful and making friends that way, making a community that way, that's always helped me a lot too.

Almost everything! I like a lot of pop and rock music, but also classic rock, some punk, classical, Spanish guitar, big band and swing, and a little bit of jazz.
