Multidimensional nexus. Interesting.

Does anyone really know much more about it?

I don't think anyone really knows anything.

Guess we'll find out, won't we?

Yeah, well. I've been here over a week and no one's told me shit.

Do you talk geek, Murphy?

Only what you've taught me.

Then you'll be fine. I'll find out what we need to or try to find out what we need, then we'll be fine.

Yeah, okay. I'd say I'd help, but we both know how that would go.

Oh, you're going to help, Murphy. Just not in the way you think.

Wary, maybe. Not afraid.

You should be wary. I plan to put you to work.

Of course you would. If only because you'd think something was wrong otherwise.

That's the gist. There are some technical details but nothing really helpful.

Technical details could actually help. Anything could, really.

It's a pocket dimension that doesn't seem to be attached to any particular multiverse, most likely artificially created - natural universes don't hold up as well to things constantly coming in and out but this one shows pretty minimal signs of damage or instability, and while it's modeled on central New York City circa 2020 certain features don't make sense, like the lack of other residential housing. It's not completely certain whether we're being brought here by the Entity (it claims it can't control who comes and goes and bringing certain people is one of the few things we can't request), brought here by someone else, or by some uncontrolled phenomenon, but it does tend to favour particular timelines and people who have connections to each other rather than random individuals which suggests either deliberate choice or some kind of quantum attraction.

Bio-engineer, nice. I'm a mechanic and engineer. So a lot of this is fascinating to me. Raven Reyes, nice to meet you, Dr. Wilson.

Well one nice thing about this place is I've had time to work on my own projects for once. If you hit up Tony Stark he'll probably be able to find you lab space.

I tend to like having my own lab space and overseeing my own projects. Though, I might hit this Tony Stark person up anyway.

[info]machinesrus

He just provides space, he wouldn't have time to oversee everyone even if he wasn't about to have a kid. The Starks built a fortune off tech.

When in doubt, it's probably magic.

[info]hasbattlescars

Maybe. However, everything has a scientific reason behind it.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]firstviolin

So what's the scientific explanation behind someone who's a mix of a werewolf, vampire, and witch? Because other than to be a pain in my butt, I've not seen a scientific explanation for that yet.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]hasbattlescars
2020-06-07 04:27 pm UTC (link)
I would actually need to know a bit more behind it than just what they are. Though, they have interesting DNA markers, that's for sure.

Yeah, I didn't ask for the details on the conception process because gross. I know parents have sex, but does anyone want to think about their parents or their friends parents doing it? No. All I know is it happened because one day there was new life or whatever you want to call it.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]hasbattlescars
2020-06-07 04:43 pm UTC (link)
I wasn't actually talking about the conception because, that one is a bit obvious. Someone doesn't normally have that many DNA markers all wrapped in one, though.

You never know. It could have been a test tube gene splice situation. Really, it's probably more like a liger or a mule. But with magic. Because this isn't Twilight.

What's Twilight?

[info]firstviolin

Oh, no, if you were spared that atrocity, I'm not going to be the one who inflicts that upon you. I'm a bitch, but I'm not a monster. All you need to know should you get bored enough and curious enough to read the books or watch the movies is vampires don't sparkle and those aren't actual werewolves and Bella is bland because it makes it that much easier for people to self insert.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]hasbattlescars
2020-06-08 04:25 pm UTC (link)
I've never heard of Twilight. It's not something we learned about where I'm from.

Why would anyone want to self insert, whatever that is.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]firstviolin
2020-06-09 03:21 pm UTC (link)
It's not a necessary part of anyone's curriculum. Unless you want to be a writer maybe and need examples of what not to do but also what to do to be a success. At least in terms of money.

Because some people want to escape into a fantasy world where they're the center of it all? Where they can be the heroine and the damsel saved by the hot savior or whatever it is they think they want or need. It's basically just a blank canvas of a character in a story where people can mentally put whatever image they want, including themselves.

That sounds pretty messed up. And nothing like what I'd get into. I don't need anyone saving me, I can save myself.
