I've been sitting in my 'bedroom' pretty much since I got here, trying to suss out what the ever-loving-FUCK is going on and I've got nothing but a grumbling stomach and a raging headache outta it. Is there like a pamphlet I missed?

I'll take that, a jam-filled Pączki, and a large coffee, thanks.

I don't think a two-hour lecture with a powerpoint presentation is going to help me but, frankly, I'd take anything better than a flimsy ass letter and a 'good luck, sucker'.

And that's another thing!

I get tossed into this place without so much as a by your leave, no direct access to the money I damn well earned, and am expected to pay rent for an apartment I'm sharing with some other unlucky schmuck like it's business as usual????

200$ is cheaper than anything I've ever had to pay for a place in my life but I feel like I should be compensated for this bullshit.

	Every now and then means it cherry-picks and I got doubts that something like that is going to listen to the grousing of a disgruntled cop for something as simple as food, especially since it's already stingy on details. Listen here, Speedy, some of us don't immediately start running when we gotta get places. Couple that with me having been still sitting on the bed at the time, yeah. I hadn't opened the door. Have now and I'm a little concerned, and sorta impressed, that the coffee's piping hot.

I've been to Manhattan. Granted that was back in my twenties but I was there for three months. This place might look-it but it's wrong. Wonky. Like an alien decided to copy the landscape but forgot that details matter so they misplaced entire blocks.

Then again, why the fuck am I even surprised it's like that since, apparently, teleportation and, I don't know, interdimensional kidnapping is a thing here.

Uh, yeah? What place doesn't have those? A hellscape, that's where. Come to think of it, there's another reboot or three of those old superhero movies from back when I was a kid happening. Or have happened and coming to theaters. Haven't really kept up so you can imagine how far behind I am on the comics they're based on.

Don't have the time or money for them.

See, that I don't get. At all. How are we the only ones living here? WHY?

I also don't want to get used to it because that implies that my ~~our~~ situation won't change and I happen to be against becoming a statistic back home.
