I see people speak of birthdays a lot here. They seem to mean a great deal but I've never had one.

I don't think I really understand the importance of the event? Isn't ageing generally seen as a bad thing for humans?

Ageing is going to happen whether we celebrate a birthday or not. So, why not celebrate living for another year?
