I already have pre-Calculus homework, and I'm not really sure how I got here.

Also, if I get in trouble, who do they call? Kirk and Natasha?

Okay.

[Tony]

I don't really know how weedings work. And this seems like a really big deal.

Just tell me what I need to do. I've never done this before.

Well, depending on how many bridesmaids Pepper chooses, you may walk one down the aisle. If not, you'd help guests to their seats beforehand. Groomsmen are usually chosen because the groom wants people he cares about near him before and on the big day. Out of the groomsmen, the groom chooses a "best man" and that role requires a bit more, but, to be honest, I don't think Pepper and I are doing too many extra things other couples do before they get married. There are sometimes engagement parties, things called "showers" where the bride gets gifts, and rehearsal dinners. Pepper and I have been together a long time and we just want to celebrate with the people we love.

So mostly? Moral support.

You're an idiot if you don't marry her.

How's that?

See! Exactly what a groomsman does.

Well, I wanted my boys near me.

Just checking.

[...] Do you think my Tony had a Pepper?

Really, there is no pressure, Jamie. I just want you there in whatever way you are comfortable.

I think you'd know if he did even if it was just an alias in a bedtime story.

Just so you know, I wouldn't do this for my Tony. Or other Tony. I don't know, the two of you are kind of melting together in my head. But I wouldn't do it for him. But I'll do for you.

So Tony had nobody but us? I kinda miss hearing the story now.

You didn’t get along well?

I wish I could help.

We used to butt heads like [...] a lot. Still do, sometimes. Something about me being too much like my dad, and not wanting to wait until he thought we were ready.

It's okay. Not your fault.

Steve and I had some difficult moments in my reality so I suppose if we are similar there—— you and your Tony might have some issues with you being like Cap. I think he’d be afraid to lose you.

You know, I might not be that Tony, but I can still be yours. I worry about stepping on Steve’s toes and pushing you away, but you are very much my kid here.

It's hard to just sit there and train to fight like your parents in a dome, but you also don't get to fight for real or help people or avenge your parents? Getting out of that dome was the best thing I ever did. Also the stupidest thing I ever did. It can be both.

I don't know how to talk to Steve. I just want to punch him half the time and go like 'wow, he's real' the other half of the time. And I haven't punched him yet. He died. They all just [...] died. You, I know. Even if you're in favor of drones.

You just haven't mastered the half James sigh yet, that's all.

Most of my life as Iron Man has been both to tell you the truth.

It is hard to watch people you care about risk themselves, especially once you lose someone. Please don’t repeat this, but I barely lived five minutes without Peter before coming here and I already wanted nothing more than to give up because what is the point if I can’t protect those I love? And had I lived once he came back —— I think I may have been something like your Tony. Protecting him and Morgan would be priority. But you are right. There comes a time we have to let go. It is just damn hard.

Please don’t punch Steve. I know the emotions are confusing, but he cares about you. What would you say if he was me?

I’m in favor of controlled drones that can be shut down rather than ones I don’t know about. I don’t want to be caught off guard.

Ha, teach me?

I looked at his computer after we were done. Ultron had like, almost conquered the whole world. It would've been wrong to wait longer.

They left me. They died. Do you know what it's like to walk around with that shield in the ruins of the city, where drones kill people and people kill people and to have those people recognize it and to expect so much? That shield's the heaviest thing in my world, and he left it to me, but not before Ultron got his ugly mitts all over it and had to put it in some trophy case. And then I had to fight Iron Cap for it. And after all that, the Steve here is not even my dad, and we don't even know how to talk to each other. And I really want my parents, the ones who named me and know me and remember me and love me. And I know I am a horrible person for even saying that.

And all my clothes are getting tight and it's really pissing me off.

It's Jam-sigh.

You are not horrible. You are normal. Of course you want your parents. Of course you want the ones who know they are yours. Don’t feel guilty for that.

We can get you new clothes.

I will work on it.

I know it is not the same, but I love you, kid.
