Is there anyone here with us who would have been considered a bad guy back in your homes? You don't have to reply publicly.

Ah, the rehabilitating powers of the prison system.

Why would you want to think about what it did to others, though?

Something like that. It wasn't too bad, three squares a day, bed. Beat someone up the first week and everyone else tends to leave you alone.

'Cause it's necessary. Actions have consequences - sometimes those consequences just hit you, sometimes they have a domino effect on people around you. People get hurt down the line, usually even worse than the what the first action did, and you need to recognize that and decide how you feel about it. I decided I didn't like how it made me feel.

I'd agree with that. I knewknow people who don't care about those consequences as long as their end goal was met. I don't think anything could wake them up to the idea that what they wanted might not be the best thing overall.

There comes a point where instead of looking in the mirror, you break it, and when you hit that point you've got to make the choice to either face what you did, or let yourself get lost. I was strong enough to face it and realize the world sure as hell didn't resolve around me. Not everyone is.
