For those of you who were acquainted with the Holmes siblings, it seems the Entity saw fit to return them to their proper time.

[ neal ]

I do not suppose this meets the special requirements for a Mai Tai occasion?

[ matthew ]
I am alright.

[ joan ]
I might step out for a spell. Is there anything you might need before I leave?

This occasion is one at the top of the list of qualifiers.

It would have been justified if you did. The worst part of people leaving has to be the suddenness of it all.

There is still a chance I might, and we shall never speak of it. [...] It is the suddenness that is overwhelmingly jarring. I feel as if I am walking around in a state of shock.

Never ever. It makes sense that you feel that way especially right now when it's still fresh. Almost like it's not real.

Not real, akin to a dream that you do not wake up from.

Would it be terribly imposing if I were to show up unannounced this evening?

You do wake up eventually.

You're never imposing and are always welcome.

And after you awaken?

I did not want to be presumptuous, but I supposed as much. Thank you, Neal. I am incredibly grateful that you are here.

As much as I hate to say it, reality will start to set in, but you learn to keep going.

I'm grateful that you're here too.

Oh. I anticipated that answer. I do not suppose there is a way to avoid damaging of the heart.

Later then?

The only way I've figured out is to close it off, but then it usually gets damaged in a different yet possibly worse way.

Later. The door's always open.
